Route 192

North Carolina Route 192 was signed in 2026 along what was Interstate 74 connecting to I-40 in Winston-Salem. The route was signed before the new section of I-74 opened to traffic north from near Union Cross to U.S. 421 (Salem Parkway) between Winston-Salem and Kernersville. What was Exit 56 along I-74 to Ridgewood Road (SR 2698) was renumbered as Exit 2 for NC 192.
A distance sign for High Point stands along the ramp connecting Interstate 40 east to NC 192. A stub on the left is a remnant from a previous Winston-Salem beltway concept.

Part of the construction building the new alignment of Interstate 74 to the east included redesigning the exchange with Ridgewood Road into a folded diamond interchange.

Ridgewood Road (SR 2698) connects Union Cross Road (SR 2643) to the south with High Point Road (SR 1003 / Old U.S. 311) to the north along a 1.60 mile course.

Roadway stubs and grading were leftover at the exchange joining NC 192 and I-40 for an unbuilt extension of the freeway northwest.
