
The Roosevelt Expressway leads U.S. 1 northeast from Interstate 76 (Schuylkill Expressway) 3.5 miles to Ninth Street at Hunting Park. U.S. 1 continues alongside U.S. 13 on Roosevelt Boulevard between Logan and Hunting Park. Opened to traffic in 1961, the Roosevelt Expressway was constructed for $3.6 million. U.S. 1 was proposed to extend further northeast along an expressway to the Philadelphia city line. Those plans were cancelled by 1980.1
