U.S. 70 Business - Clayton / Smithfield

The longest of seven business routes for U.S. 70 in North Carolina, the branch through Clayton and Smithfield in Johnston County is 19.76 miles in length. U.S. 70 Business was extended west to I-40 near Garner when the Clayton Bypass opened for U.S. 70 to the south. This was approved by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) on May 6, 2008.
