Virginia Route 236 is a principle arterial running 15.54 miles east from the city of Fairfax to the city of Alexandria in Northern Virginia. Within Fairfax, SR 236 lines Main Street east from the west split of U.S. 29 (Lee Highway) and U.S. 50 (Lee-Jackson Highway) to Downtown. Continuing east into Fairfax County, SR 236 (Little River Turnpike) heads to Annandale, Lincolnia and I-395 (Henry G. Shirley Memorial Highway) at the Alexandria city line. The remainder of SR 236 follows Duke Street from Landmark Mall to U.S. 1 (Henry / Patrick Streets) and SR 400 (Washington Street) in Downtown Alexandria.
