That actually looks a lot like the connection to US 40 outside Columbus - OH 158.

Not the same road, but 158 was the terminus of I-70 into US 40 before the road went through Columbus. They removed one carriageway for the most part and let what's left slowly disappear into nature. It was a stop on the Cbus meet a few years back.

No, i stayed along I-25 until i left the interstate system, did not return to it until i went to Debbie's favorite place.

No, i ended up going up to illinois with my next load.

I checked from yonder to yonder (interstates in pretty much every state in the west, and heavily concentrated on I-25 in NM, CO, & WY after you gave away more hints), but I could not find the exact location of your picture still. Misewell give us the answer now, since I am truly curious as to where that picture was taken, and how close I was to finding its location
