I'm outside at my wife's union picnic before the Fresno State game.  Currently it is 104F, fortunately there is a strong breeze at my back.

The mini heat wave is over, but now we have a blanket of wildfire smoke all over Western Washington. Waiting on the marine front to blow it away.

Only one day this week with a forecasted high at or above 90°. I'm ready for summer to be over.

Despite passing seemingly dangerously close by the Texas coast, Hurricane Francine was practically a non-factor here thankfully!  But wishing the best in recovery for those you in the Big Easy area (Big Easy == New Orleans incase you didn't know).

Anyway our average peak summer conditions are still hanging around, compared to our end-of-summer averages in mid-September; in fact we are still warmer now than we were this past July (cooler than normal summer).

                                  ACTUAL                            AVERAGE
BROWNSVILLE:       97 high; 81 low                  94 high; 78 low
CORPUS CHRISTI:   96 high; 82 low                  93 high; 79 low
LAREDO:               103 high; 80 low                  97 high; 76 low
MCALLEN:             100 high; 80 low                  95 high; 77 low

And since dew points are remaining a bit elevated around the mid to upper 70s due to the incoming loads of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, heat index will maintain in the 110s all across South Texas.

Nighttime Heat Index:  80 to 90 degrees
Daytime Heat Index:  110 to 120 degrees
We're so far south that we're not even considered "The South"

Wouldn't that just be a regular party then?  :)

I'd count it as that, but the one I went to was advertised as a "pool party"  :-D

High of 86, Low of 53. Been around the same for the last 3 days or so. The next high that is in the 90s is on Saturday.

Currently an about perfect 53F outside in Fresno.  My 8.75 mile run felt as though it required next to no effort given hydration wasn't much of an issue.

JayhawkCO

After Friday, the extended forecast shows no highs above 80° through the end of the month. Almost corresponding to the exact day of the equinox to move into more fall-like weather.

Just chilly rain with temps in the 40s around Lake Tahoe, but a bit to our south the Sierra around Sonora Pass has clearly gotten a decent late-summer dusting of snow.

A lightning storm started up during my run this morning.  Seems a rain shower is heading unusually northward towards Fresno.

We've been stuck in a stagnant pattern for over 3 weeks, 22 straight days with no rainfall. Every day has been low humidity with highs in the 80s, couple days touching 90. Lows cool off nicely to the 60s.

Pattern change finally begins this weekend
The local weatherman, trust me I can be 99.9% right!

Currently low 60s and cloudy for the first day of fall.

Slightly warmer than normal (up to +5 degrees above average in several places) for the first week of the official Fall season, which just started a couple day ago.  The humidity hasn't relented just yet with dew points still in the upper 70s for most of South Texas and still going on 80 degrees along the beaches and the barrier island.  But now with the lack of our usual sea breeze, the air is stagnant and going to feel quite uncomfortable until the end of this week.  Expect the winds to be very light (3 MPH at the most) or even calm; it is going to feel especially suffocating.  It is only for that reason we've been issued a Heat Advisory for today and tomorrow....not a good time to be outside if you have respiratory issues or even asthma.

                                  ACTUAL                            AVERAGE
BROWNSVILLE:      93 high; 82 low                  92 high; 76 low
CORPUS CHRISTI:  94 high; 81 low                  91 high; 77 low
LAREDO:                97 high; 76 low                  95 high; 73 low
MCALLEN:              98 high; 78 low                  94 high; 75 low

Thankfully we have a cooler day today, with 73 being the high and 54 being the low. Hottest by the end of the week is a possible 77 on Saturday, could be lower due to rain.
