This traffic circle on NY 52 in East Fishkill opened in 2023, but the signs don't look NYSDOT. They don't have z-bars, and the "divider" sign and yield signs look off: https://maps.app.goo.gl/jetCK9NyTnc7JuZo6

On the westbound approach, the "To I-84" assembly showed a left arrow rather than a "go around the traffic circle" arrow. So for a short time, it looked like the sign was telling you to go the wrong way around the island
Not every speed limit in NY needs to be 30

The recording of last week's public meeting regarding the I-790/Exit 31 interchange is online (note the password to use to view the recording).  Concepts start 15-16 minutes in.  There are more concepts than depicted in the NYSAMPO presentation I linked earlier.

Thanks - I'd signed up for email updates but had forgotten this would be available by now. I see they've expanded the boundary of the study area, which is GREAT news. Even better, a number of the alternatives have slip ramps to/from the Thruway west of the Marcy-SUNY Pkwy interchange.

Here is the full list of the 12 alternatives:
A: No-Build
B: Minor streetscape and signage improvements
C-1: Remove Exit 31 ramps west of Genesee St and replace them with an at-grade
C-2: Create a new S-shaped ramp from existing Thruway Exit 31 ramps to I-790 and realign River Rd.
D-1: Additional Thruway interchange at NY 5/8/12 - this appears to primarily provide direct access to/from the north with no direct access to I-790.
D-2: Additional Thruway interchange at the NY 49 split - frankly it's hard to interpret from the visual, but per the presentation "the new interchange would provide direct connections between I-90 and Marcy and reduce the amount of traffic traveling through the I-90 Exit 31 ramps and surrounding local roadways"
E-1: Removal of existing Exit 31 and new Thruway Interchange at NY 5/8/12 as described in D-1.
E-2: Removal of existing Exit 31 and new Thruway Interchange at NY 49 split as described in D-2.
F-1: Removal of existing Exit 31 with full diamond interchanges at both Leland Ave and Genesee St; Thruway entrance ramps east of Leland to/from the east and west of Marcy-Suny Pkwy to/from the west.
F-2: Same as F-1 but with frontage roads between Genesee St and Leland instead of tight diamond ramps.
G: Removal of existing Exit 31 with new eastbound on/off ramps to Genesee St and new westbound slip ramp to I-790 and Thruway slip ramps to/from the west beyond Marcy-SUNY Pkwy. Also included is an extension of I-790 to NY 5S near the Culver Ave exit.
H: Removal of exiting Exit 31 with new westbound slip ramp to I-790 but no access to Genesee St (?) and Thruway slip ramps to/from the west beyond Marcy-SUNY Pkwy. Also included is an extension of I-790 along the Canal to NY 5S near the Dyke Rd exit.

The Genesee St bridge over the Canal would also be replaced with most of the alternatives.

My overall preference is F-1, though F-2 would be great as well. I'm really surprised by the inclusion of the alternatives that extend I-790 to what would be more or less a U-shape with I-90 threaded through it, but I think both of those alternatives could also work well (though probably unlikely due to higher cost).

Alternative B isn't much of an upgrade, C1 would be a disappointment, C2 seems overly complex, and I tend to dismiss both E alternatives out of hand, but I'd be OK with any of the other 6 options.

I found a Wikimedia Commons image of a legal notice from the early-19th Century that may or may not describe NY 25A between Setauket and Port Jefferson;
