To follow-on from this, I decided to spend some time this evening listening to some of Vylet's more recent work. Here's a few that I've personally quite enjoyed:

I was listening to XM's "Eighties on 8" while driving around running errands. Now I have, of all songs, Debbie Gibson's "Out of the Blue" stuck in my head. I'm going to have to figure out something else catchy to play that can get stuck in my head instead.

Edited to add: Watching basketball solved the problem. The NCAA tournament theme music sticks in one's head too.

"The Heart of Rock and Roll" by Huey Lewis and the News.  (It's what came up on YouTube Music.)  I actually hadn't heard it in a while.

Fun fact: the image of the tornado on the album cover is an image of the F5 tornado that struck Fargo, ND in 1957.

This one came up on "Meg Griffin's Disorder" on SXM's "The Loft" this week.  Some great 80s hair in there, and a lot of very bad walking like Egyptians.

Meg Griffin had a brain aneurysm and didn't do new "Disorder" shows for about three years, but she's finally back and has put out new weekly shows for the last couple months.  It's my favorite podcast-type show on SXM.

My wife has childhood memories of sitting in her bedroom closet with the Bangles on the Walkman.  She did a school report about Egypt and, during her presentation, she demonstrated to the class how the Egyptians walked.

I didn't play the video (we have the TV on), but I certainly remember that song and if I do hear it, all the words immediately come back. I guess it's good for other people that I don't generally hear that song anywhere but in the car.

Anyone ever hear of this band?

La Folia, as the first track on Itzhak Perlman's 1994 album Bit and Pieces.

Perlman might be the only violinist I can identify just by listening, and I love his playing.

It's amazing, the link between certain senses and events in our past.  Back in the late 1990s, I read Stephen King's novel Insomnia, and I had this album playing in the background on CD almost the entire time I was reading.  Nowadays, I hardly remember anything about the book, but listening to any track on the album immediately takes me back nearly 30 years to that experience.

Refrigerator Car, by the Spin Doctors on their album Pocket Full of Kryptonite.

The beginning is one of the best drum parts ever, in my opinion.
