The good:
-Addition of Buffalo Rd to most* Exit 7 signage in both directions.
-Removal of the EB I-490 pull-through at Exit 7B.
-Addition of Airport/Greece to the second advance signs for Exit 9.
-The replacement of this disaster being included in the project.

I'm also excited for the inclusion of exit tabs for exit 8 on the WB APLs.

What is it with Region 4 and exit gore signs getting bad replacements?  First we had the one with the missing suffix and bad font, then the one with no number at all, and now we have another with no number at all on I-590 north at I-490 (should say exit 5; honestly, at this point fully half the signs for that exit have no number and the APL has the tab positioned in an odd enough way that it feels like an afterthought, as if Region 4 isn't always aware that this exit has a number).  Between this, the weird leftover signage from when the Irondequoit Bay Bridge was weight restricted, and the gradual disappearance of not just tenth mile markers, but mile markers period (and inconsistent way they've been addressed in projects), I'm starting to think Region 4 might be in the same league as Regions 7 and 9 in terms of signage quality.  Maybe even worse.

What's odd is that these gore signs have no place for a number.  It looks like they just decided to save money by buying a bunch of numberless blanks for the maintenance residencies to put up as spot replacements and not worry about exit numbers.  They'd likely continue appearing even after a hypothetical conversion.

Such also doesn't explain the inconsistencies with mile markers.  One of the I-390 projects and the I-490 Gateway project are the last instances I can think of the traditional tenth mile markers being installed.  Since then, it's been unpredictable.  The I-390/I-490 interchange has enhanced tenths the whole way, but those are the only new tenth mile markers that have been installed at all.  A couple of the I-390 projects have used enhanced full markers but no tenths, and every other project seems to include nothing at all, not even markers for the full miles.  I-590/NY 590 is the only road left with consistent tenths, and any kind of distance marker has gotten scarce on the eastern part of I-490 (and is also absent on a part of I-390).

It's also worth noting that the exit gore sign for I-490 exit 28 has been missing for close to 20 years!
