That Wisconsin term was not used much in our family. Occasionally, my mom would say bubbler.
Actually what got me was my grandmother, who was originally from Jersey City NJ, would add "R" to Washington or say Bat-tree for Battery.
Many years ago, I was doing missionary work in Hong Kong with a group of about 40 people. Of that group, 15 were from Statesboro GA so by the end of the trip, we all were talking like Southerners. They would make fun of my minor Chicago accent by asking me to say sausage.
Shortly after that trip, I had a girlfriend from Lakeland FL. She used to drive me nuts when she would say "I'm fixing to Aldi."
Accents and local phrasing. Got to love it.

That intrusive R is also common in Washington State, too. I don't know about the rest of the west, but some older generations here add "r" to any word with "wash". "Warshington", "warshing machine", etc.

My maternal family aren't from here, but it's common throughout my entire paternal family who are from PNW.

Interesting. I definitely don't hear a "u" sound (like "were"?), it's "wore-sheen-ton" on this side of the mountains.

Irrespective of that, the intrusive R is still there.

Not totally Google Maps' fault, I suppose, but I'm tired of Android Auto screwing up destinations from Google Maps' mobile version.  Had a destination from this most recent trip to PA that was just described as "PA-147" by Google Maps.  When I linked my phone to Android Auto in my car, Android Auto picked some random place far, far south from the one I intended, changing my route.  I've caught Android Auto doing this before, but this time I thought I could trust it and ended up driving about five miles or so out of the way before I realized I was on the wrong track.

And, it is far beyond time for the mobile version of Google Maps to recognize via points placed in the desktop version.

Well, where is it? Why isn't it showing up on my smartphone?

Also, Google Maps almost lost my timeline. There have been numerous complaints about this.

How did they almost lose your Timeline?  Was this a couple of years ago when they switched it to local storage?  I wasn't and still am not happy with that change, French privacy concerns aside, but they did warn users repeatedly.

Recently, I had to replace my smartphone. Then I discovered it didn't transfer most of my timeline, even after I told it to. Luckily, I had my old phone handy, and was able to transfer it after refreshing it.

If I had thrown out my old phone right away, I'd be out of luck.

Replace your phone. Expecting it to be an upgrade is probably too optimistic for the state of the tech industry these days.

Whether it's an upgrade or downgrade depends on which one you like better, I suppose.

There were definitely a few cell phones in my past that I would consider to have been a 'downgrade' from the good old Motorola Razr, for example.

I've been getting that too. And often it won't show the "See more dates" link so you can select less-crappy imagery, either.

Ugh, I've been dealing with both of those issues too.  The first (static image) is much more annoying than the second (user content but pannable).  I also share the irritation that |vdeane| expressed at some point, that it often defaults to user content even though there is more recent 'standard' imagery available.

I plot a driving route between two points.  I click-and-drag the blue line onto another road, and a little hovering pop-up shows me the new distance.  I let go of the mouse button, the route snaps down onto that road, and yet the new distance is different from what was shown on the little pop-up.

Yep.  Same with driving times.

Sure, that happens too.  But, the hover pop-up has had different mileage and time info than the direction panel very commonly for me.

I've found that sometimes the route shown when I try to snap isn't what happens after I place it.  Not necessarily that the snap ends up in an unexpected place (though that happens too), but that how it affects the route is different (such as diverting down one street before/after turning onto the road with the point vs. a different road or something).  In terms of routing, there's no difference between shaping points and adding additional destinations; the only difference is how it displays the directions on the left.  So it can theoretically use any route between points.  I've even had them change while panning around or while loading saved directions.  The only real defense is to add so many points that it has very little reasonable leeway, such that it will only divert in the event of a road closure or major crash.
