Does the PTC have an approved budget, been watching the bid page, no action for about 4 weeks, I know it's a new fiscal year, but at least thought the would be some action today.

Was coming onto 476 from 276 West at Mid-County yesterday and noticed there is now an Exit 20B sign at the gore for the ramp from 476 South to 276 East. I did not notice any new numbering northbound. Wonder if 476 no longer exits itself as far as having an exit number on the Northeast Extension.

Was the I-476 exit from the westbound mainline signed as Exit 334?

They should have numbered the exit 334 instead of 20 to begin with.

Went NB this time. The Germantown Pike exit is in the process of being signed as Exit 20A, but not everything has been updated yet.

So let me get this straight. I-476 exit 20A is for Germantown Pike and exit 20B is for I-276 east?

That would be my guess but NB does not have the same gore signage as SB to confirm yet.  Maybe the SB ramp to I-276 WB will be Exit 20C.

On I-476 southbound approaching the former Mid-County tolls, the pavement is still grooved.  What would it take to fix that?

I asked the PTC about the rumble strips and they were not committed to removing them.  Their claim is it promotes awareness of the speed limit going from 70 to 55.  However, no other speed transition like that on the Turnpike has rumble strips.

I recall discussion upthread about the eastbound signage for exit 266 omitting the interchange name - another new development I noticed yesterday is that the "exits" signage following exit 266 was replaced and now shows the routes at the next 2 interchanges versus the names. Definitely seems like the PTC is moving away from the interchange names long-term.

What happened to Lancaster? Isn't the control cities Lebanon- Lancaster despite it redundant to the former name?

Didn't get a picture, but Lancaster is now relegated to a single auxiliary sign about a half-mile prior to the exit:

"LANCASTER
USE EXIT 266"

Correct - unless you're heading to a town north of Lancaster, it's much easier to take the prior exit going either direction.

Well, the control city of Manheim is certainly a town north of Lancaster.

Correct - unless you're heading to a town north of Lancaster, it's much easier to take the prior exit going either direction.

Well PA 283 is a shorter( and much cheaper) alternative than PA 72 as well as 222 heading WB.

However, its always been the Lebanon and Lancaster exit for ages.

Wonder if Hershey is still signed at the I-283 exit though.

I take this is the original Exit 21 Eastbound ramp before the US 222 freeway was built along with the current trumpet for both US 222 and PA 272 1 mile east of this locale.

I find that new sign in the second image to be stupid. For a road that hosts so many out-of-area drivers, people are probably more looking out for control cities, not route numbers that they will probably instantly forget. It just seems more simple for people to read a sign like that and think "ok, here's how long until our exit toward Reading", not "here's how long until our exit to get on U.S. 222". It works on a local commuter highway, but not really on this.
