Yeah, I'd say you're perfectly safe, then.  The cartels almost exclusively target roadgeeks who post about their upcoming travels on online internet forums—never other cartel members or anybody associated with them.  As long as you stay close to your father-in-law, you're basically untouchable.

My wife was running a Dr. Simi plush toy wracket the last time we were in Jalisco.  She was flipping the dolls when we got back to the U.S.  I'm unclear on what her profit margin was.

Off forum Dr. Simi made an appearance in the Gribblenation 25th anniversary group chat.  Adam spotted one of the mascot out on the street in Juarez.  I don't think anyone was expecting me to have a whole story about a Mexican pharmacy mascot.

Actually, it's more that I've never been to a roadmeet outside my own home city.
