My wife kept trying to make phone calls about her dad's appointments on US 6 in Nevada on Friday.  It took her four tries to complete a single call due to the spotty reception.  I kept telling her we would be in Ely by 3:45 PM and just to try when the cell coverage was reliable.

I drive a dull, common car. I eat at restaurants you likely have in your area. I have a job that gives me unexciting amounts of money,

I am still the least interesting man in the world.

Driving the lesser highways of Nevada is an excellent way to keep the significant other off her phone for a few hours for a change.

It says 659 for me.

Isn't there a way to adjust the settings to show 50 posts per page?

Seemingly not anymore.  Every valley between Tonopah and Ely had solid reception.  She just couldn't get the call completed before we would hit mountain passes.

Two reasons:

1.  It makes you seem weird.
2.  You're clearly pining for attention.

BTW, I meant it when I said you probably should quit the forum.  You clearly aren't mature enough to act with the slightest bit of decorum.  It is kind of sad that there aren't people in your immediate circle who don't try to reign you in and tell you what is socially unacceptable.

I don't know what outlet is right for you, but it isn't this hobby.

Rothman

Out of all of his posts, saying he wants to walk all the sidewalks in his town wasn't the most off.

But, just using the forum and therefore us as some sort of outlet is...not healthy.

Honest question:
What is wrong with me talking about clinching, when it isn't wrong for anyone else to do it?

The name of the site is not AASidewalks.

Note that if you walk alongside (or bike) the entirety of a numbered highway, that does count as clinching the highway, the same as it would if you drove it in a car.

There was one time a few years ago where I wanted to see if I could get a picture of every single street blade within the city limits of Little Rock, although I didn't really take into account how long it would actually end up taking, and not having a great way of tracking progress for it, which resulted in me losing a lot of interest in the project. Maybe I'll get back to it in the future if I feel like it, but it's not something I'm just going to randomly mention out of context either, and in reality it's probably not very interesting to anybody else besides myself.

I do agree with the sentiment that this probably isn't the place to use as a sole outlet for any sort of hobbyist group at all, and there's a lot more potential exploring that can be done outside of this forum. Reddit might be a somewhat decent option rather than solely using the forum as your only outlet. Just because we discuss similar topics and have similar points of interest does not mean I am your friend.

When I was younger, I did use this forum as an outlet pretty heavily, and as I've mentioned elsewhere, the excitement of being able to communicate with a lot of like-minded individuals here has hugely waned off on me, and I often don't have much to really contribute most of the time. I've also become a lot more conscious of knowing what is or isn't appropriate to post here.

I personally think that's a pretty cool goal, especially since having such a thorough catalog of street name signs would be useful to...well, mostly me, but it could be useful to others in the future too. The thing about this sort of documentation is, if you put it out there on the internet somewhere, you never really know who might find it useful someday.

...Although I hope that by the time you get around to doing this, you're living somewhere that does nicer-looking signs than Little Rock. :-D

I'm still not sure what's wrong with the sidewalk comment. I do something similar — I keep track of which roads and trails I've walked, so far totaling almost 1300 miles. I've gotten a lot of old and interesting sign pictures out of it, often on local roads that people focusing exclusively on numbered highways would miss.

Such as this one.
Clinched

Traveled, plus US 13, 50, and several state routes

New clinched: I-391, CT 40
New traveled: MA 32, 67, 116, 148; CT 10, 150

Lowest untraveled: 36

People on this forum talk about all sorts of clinches.  I don't see clinching counties as any less weird than clinching sidewalks in one's own town.  When I was a kid growing up in a small town, I was familiar with every block of every street in town, and I was kind of proud of that;  sidewalks aren't that far off from that.

And, anyway, this forum is full of weird people, myself included.  If we didn't post anything that might make us seem weird, then half of us would just go bye-bye.

You folks sure like to find ways to encourage spam posters to hang around.  This kid has been on the ropes about quitting several times and some you keep pulling him back from the brink.

But yes, the distance runner in me finds the concept of trying to clinch every last sidewalk in a small town and pretty out there.  I have an idea in my head the radius I've run around Fresno and past cities lived at like Phoenix.  Keeping actual data on something like that is beyond hyper pedantic.

You know that's not me.  I just thought calling out a member of this forum as being "weird" was kind of ironic.

Hey man, we're all hypocrites, so I'm not like separating myself from that group, but I'm just calling it out. You engage with Beltway a lot of times, and on top of that, you say he's just spamming and trolling, you continue to feed him.
