When the Big One hits, it will be Kiss Your A$$ Goodbye Time in these parts and there won't be any way to evacuate with slides all over the place and bridges being down.  However you and all others are welcome to visit Old Town Marshfield, which is downtown Coos Bay.  It was all built on filled in mudflats and will liquify like the Marina District in SF did during the 1989 earthquake when the Big One comes.  Bring your metal detector and check out the ruins that remain...LOL!

US 101 is THE backbone of the Pacific coast from Bandon OR to Willits CA.  Industry, tourism and local traffic would be gone or severely crippled without it being in functioning condition in BOTH states.

The Cape Arago Highway used to be numbered as 240 BTW.

It still is.  That's its internal ODOT highway number.  But there is already an OR Route 240 (Chehalem Hwy, Newberg to Yamhill), so when ODOT requested route numbers for nearly all its unsigned state highways in 2002, Arago Hwy #240 got the designation OR 540.

I-210 and I-905

What part of the 210? The freeway's been open all the way through to Pasadena from San Bernardino since 2007, I believe. The 710 through South Pasadena--now there's one.

At what age do you tell a highway that it's been adopted?

Widening I-5 from California 91 to I-710. That stretch was originally built long before the Interstate Highway system was proposed. When it was built, it ran through orange groves and farmland. Then Disneyland opened in 1955 and then all the orange groves were ripped out for subdivisions and shopping malls, and small towns like Anaheim and Garden Grove became big L.A. suburbs but that poor little I-5 was never widened between the I-605 and the 91. The stretch south of the 91 all the way into Irvine was widened in the 1990s--about twenty years after it should've been.

Brandon, it seems that you and I are on the same wavelength when it comes to the rich bastards in Long Grove.  Too bad eminent domain is not being used for the 12 freeway here.  And besides, the corridor was planned back in the 70's when Long Grove didn't have half the pop it does now.  Those people should have known about the corridor when they built their homes.  I heard a story about why the extension of 355 going to 80 was held up.  Probably legend but i am going with it.  A guy in Homer Glen whose home was 1/4 mile from the corridor said he had a unique species of butterfly that was indiginous to his acreage.  He got a judge who was environmentally friendly to order the state to redo the envirnment study along with the injuction for 10 years.  The state had the study done in 6 months and discovered this "unique" butterfly species was indeed common.  It was the state Monarch.  So beacuase of one bastard in Homer Glen, we had to pay an additional $50 million due to inflation for 355 than back in 1995 when it was supposed to be built.  God I hate NIMBYS!

Rte 12 freeway? Do you mean the IL 53 extension and the western leg that goes along IL 120 and then near McHenry goes NW to connect with US12 at the WI border?
I agree this is long overdue.  The few, screwing over the many that have to deal with the traffic bottlenecks.  Maybe the state should propose 6 laning IL 53 to IL 83,8 laning Il 83 and 4 laning Quentin Rd as an alternate. Maybe then a 6 lane, compact IL 53 extension will be far more palatable!

Originally, the stub of Rt 53 that had ended at Dundee Rd (Rt 68), later extended to Lake Cook Rd, was to connect directly with the US 12 freeway near Genoa City WI.  This was long before the thought of IL 120 being in the mix.  ISTHA later revised this, after the nimbys killed the original plan, to what it is today.

I-69 between I-465 (Exit 0) and S.R. 9 (Exit 26) in Indiana. INDOT recently widened I-69 to four lanes from I-465 to mile marker 6 in the northbound lanes. In addition to this they need to do the same thing in the southbound lanes and rework the interchanges at I-465 and 116th street (Exit 5), which is planned to be done by 2015 I think. The problem is that north of this area, INDOT has planned nothing. During rush hour, traffic is right at (if not below) the posted speed limit of 70 MPH. The freeway needs expanded to six lanes up to S.R. 13 (Exit 14) if they do the minimum amount, and S.R. 9 (Exit 26) if they want to do what's really needed.

Example of I-69 every morning during rush hour:

In Michigan
US-31 between Napier Ave and I-94 (Benton Harbor area)
US-31 between I-196 and I-96 (Holland/Grand Haven bypass)
US-127 upgrade to full freeway between Ithaca and St. Johns

I was a passenger on South Georgia's section of I-75 in 2009 and I can remember the constant construction zones.

it's been widened to 4 + carpool lane or 5 + carpool lane between 39 (LA/OC county line) and 91.  north of 39, it is three lanes for the most part, occasionally 4.

I remember a Chicago Tribune road map from the early 70's that showed the 53 extension going north and an expressway running parallel to Il rte 120 and this connected to the Fox Valley expressway. Any way, it's probably splitting hairs and the voters have said YES, but the politicians lack the stones to deal with the NIMBYS (many which moved in AFTER the road had been planned). The 53 expressway actually had concrete poured and was completed NORTH of Dundee Rd.(although not completely to Lake Cook) with a complete interchange at Dundee.

I remember them from a trip from Atlanta to Valdosta in 2004.  This still isn't finished yet?!

1) The northern end of the St. Joseph Valley Parkway, aka the US 31 freeway in Berrien County. Just pick a plan and built it already.

2) The US 127 freeway between Ithaca and St. Johns. The interchange for M-57 is there, just need to start the freeway.

NORTH STAR. The gap is from St. John's to NORTH STAR.

Anyway...

I-295 on the east side of Jacksonville, FL
US 31 (both Michigan gaps)
I-73/I-74 in NC or SC

To my knowledge -- and after looking on the GDOT site -- no.

Check the maps. North Star is the northernmost end of the gap... and probably the reason for the gap.

I did, because I'd never heard of North Star, and it's not.  Don't be a pedant; Ithaca is the county seat, North Star is an unincorporated cluster of houses.  The reason for the gap is all the driveway access on that stretch as well as probably not wanting to spend the money on figuring out how to grade-separate the railroad at M-57.

The freeway gap used to be a lot longer, the St. John's bypass wasn't even done until the mid-90's.
I demand an apology.

I think the railroad at M-57 is never used and is basically abandoned.

Extending NJ 18 to I-287.  They've been talking about that for years, and nothing has happened yet.
