I kinda figured US 7 would be alot like a cross between a super 2 with passing lanes and the KY parkways so thats good to know, once I hit the Albany area, it will be a fast trip to Harrisburg VIA 88 to 81 south.

I gave Doug a "I'm pretty sure we are coming" RSVP over facebook. I hope that officially counted as a yes, because the plan is that Mike and I are coming.

However, my great aunt just passed away and it is possible that her memorial service will be either the 21st or 22nd. We should know in the next day or two when her service will be. If the service falls sometime during the weekend, we will not attend the meet. If it is another day, then we will be at the meet.

Sorry for your loss Laura  :-( Is this the great aunt who was at York Hospital?

Sorry for your loss, Laura.  If you and Mike are able to come, that would be great.  We'll be able to fit you in.  Just keep us informed of what's going on.

For those of you who are not connected to me by Facebook, and therefore have not heard my share of drama today, I am officially out of this meet. Unfortunately, my mother has a series of dental appointments regarding a damaged false tooth, and with my workload, this precludes me from taking off on Saturday.

I hope that you all have a good time. Maybe I can work with Adam Jackson to get an impromptu tour of the TomTom facilities in the future. In the meantime, my vacation plans are being re-formulated, with the Burlington, VT meet (and subsequent Québec trip), the US 460 (Pikeville/Grundy) meet, or a flight to Puerto Rico all options at this point. In any case, I will get my mix of roads and Romance languages.

Thanks guys. My great Aunt Dolly was 90 and had a wonderful, long, life. She was seriously the sweetest, most selfless person I've ever known. We were pretty close to her; she was my mom's godmother.

Jason: Yes, she was the one at York Hospital. It's amazing that she lived for almost another month - we thought she was going to pass the weekend of the wedding.

Doug: My extended family has confirmed that her memorial service is either going to be Sept 28 or Oct 12, so we are good to come to the meet this weekend.

Janko: Thanks for the condolences, and sorry to hear about your mom needing dental work. Hope all goes well.

F.Y.I., my planned route:

Into NY on I-87. US 11 NB, US 2 EB, US 7 SB until Rutland. Loop via US 4 WB and US 4 Business WB to avoid a gap in my clinching of US 7 and clinch US 4 Bus. Continue on US 4 EB into Lebanon, then NH 120 until its northern terminus and backtrack to the meet location.

US routes get preferential treatment because CHM doesn't have Vermont state routes yet, and because I give those and Interstates higher priority for clinching in general. I already have all of Vermont's Interstates and most of NH's Interstates clinched.

The Vermont state routes may soon be added to CHM, and a set of draft route files is already online.  I plan to snag some of those routes (including but not limited to VT 3, VT 107, and part of VT 73), instead of backtracking on I-/US route segments I've already covered, though some backtracking will be unavoidable.

Would it be possible for people to put this road meet on the calendar on this website?

I think it'll create a new thread, so no.

It would be useful that future meets be posted through the forum's calendar, though. I think that people have just been forgetting that it's there.

I've figured out my Sunday, finally - a bunch of northern routes like 58, 105, 101, 100, every road up to the border and back (without crossing)... only two more work days to go!

jpi

I just have 4 and a half work hours to go. The on the road in the morning, staying in Harrisburg, PA tomorrow night then takeing the scenic route to Rutland, VT Friday. The to Lebanon, NH Saturday morning :-)

HELLO EVERYONE!

Sorry to yell, myself and colleagues are excited about this meetup as I just locked down presentation stations and our afternoon sight-seeing activities.

I also had one of our mobile mapping vans brought in from the road and it's decked out with all kinds of map collecting hardware. There will be a guy here to show it off and answer any questions about it. Actually, I've never been given a tour of these either so I'll learn a few things.

I'll be here around 10:30AM to setup. See you all around noon and food will arrive shortly after. then about 2-3PM we'll set out to check on a few local spots and then people can choose to see the beautiful town of Woodstock or head back home since we'll be around 5:30 PM at that point.

My mobile is 415-894-0857 if you get lost and need directions. This is going to be a lot of fun.

I'm excited too! I wonder how easy (or hard) the wakeup will be tomorrow. I want to leave by 6.

Janko Dialnice

Have yourselves a great time. I will be with you guys in spirit.

By the way, Adam J, maybe we can arrange to meet independently, apart from a meet, to see the facilities. I am curious as to how you guys operate. :)

froggie

Juan, if you can make November 11, that's when I was looking at popping down to Lebanon to meet with the Tom-Tom folk.

adamjackson

For sure. those of you that don't make it today are welcome to stop in another time and we'll do something similar.

Cool Photo. I'm going to share it with our colleagues.

It was awesome meeting everyone (some for the 2nd time) and showing off our map making tools. we should do it again in a few years. I'll keep watching this board for other regional meets so I can join you guys again. It was a lot of fun.

If you're available November 9, that's when I'm hosting the Burlington meet, which isn't far from you.  Just let me know either on that thread or on facebook if you decide to go.

Thanks for the reminder. It's very likely that I'll be able to go. I'll try to find the meet on Facebook and RSVP.
