Quote from: kphoger on September 14, 2025, 03:26:01 PMHere are some cocaine-related gems from classic Jake.  2013 must have been an interesting year for him, I guess.

Quote from: Lytton on July 03, 2013, 08:46:31 PMThe most boring stretch I've ever been on was Interstate 15 between Barstow and Las Vegas.

you must have forgotten your two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high powered blotter acid, salt shaker half full of cocaine, whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers, quart of tequila, quart of rum, case of Budweiser, pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.

This is a direct quote out of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, describing what the narrator had on him when traversing that particular stretch of I-15 (or perhaps US 91).

Quote from: Max Rockatansky on September 14, 2025, 03:38:04 PMLytton must have not been a fan of dry lakes and volcanic mountains.

I-15 between Barstow and LV is no Virgin River Gorge or anything, but to hear some people put talk you'd think it's comparable to I-39. I was expecting that sort of experience, but dry, and was quite pleased to find out it was actually interesting.

Or maybe it really is like I-39, and it's just that around Barstow on the edge of the desert, the drugs begin to take hold.

I just remembered this one from a few years ago:

Quote from: hbelkins on May 03, 2022, 03:59:56 PMI've been married for nearly 27 years and I'm still not comfortable with letting flatulence slip in the presence of my wife. Not long after we were married, I bent over to pick something up and accidentally ripped one, and I've been ashamed of that ever since.

This is on the related Travel Mapping forum, but I really like the concept of a "truckphobic bridge"

Quote from: mapcatTo be more specific, another stupid alternate business truck route on Business 30 (Downingtown). This is separate from US30BusTrkCoa, because there's another truckphobic bridge a few miles west of the one we knew about. Westbound, this one follows Old Wilmington Rd, PA 340, and PA 10. The last part is an assumption since I did not travel PA 10 from 340 to 30, but it's hard to see a more logical path for it to take.
