A wonderful photo of one of the most photogenic roads in the world!

Agreed! Nice photo!

P.S. to Fritzowl, no, it would not look better as an interstate.

I tend to photograph extremes...from empty freeways to heavy traffic:

Thanks! I fixed the link to the second pic now.

And Bruce, those are some really nice pictures! I really enjoy angles like that over and near freeways.

Is the second picture under title Cajon Pass Old US 66 on the closed section between Kenwood and I-15 (south of Kenwood just after all traffic is forced to turn left toward I-15)? There are no pavement markings on either carriageway.  Also there is no barriers between the carriageways.

From home for a change.  The final rehabilitation contract to resurface the mainline lanes of the highway through Etobicoke was finished earlier this year.  This is the first time in the last decade that there hasn't been a prolonged period of construction planned for the highway

Not knowing a better spot to put it without opening up a new thread or reviving an old one, I'll simply borrow this thread.

Guess where the following picture was shot, taking into account the color of the lane striping and the traffic flow...

If you guessed Philadelphia, you're right.  This road - 7th Street in South Philly - is supposed to be 2 lanes per direction, with a center turn lane.  After the Eagles game today, whether it was intended or not, traffic utilized all 5 lanes to head north (mostly to eventually reach I-76 & I-95).  In this case, as no traffic was permitted to head south on 7th after the game, it gave motorists unobstructed access to all lanes.  The worst of it was where 7th met Packer Ave.  Barriers were in place (and cops present) to prevent traffic from entering and traveling south on 7th, which also meant traffic going north couldn't go thru said barriers either.  The 5 lanes had to merge down to 3 lanes to squeeze thru the intersection.

While in some cities around stadiums, lane stripping and signage are used to indicate which lanes are open and the direction of travel, Philly doesn't utilize contra-flow lanes.  Thus, most likely this wasn't the intended traffic flow the city wanted.  Oh well - it worked.  I got out of the parking lot, thru this traffic, and onto the Walt Whitman Bridge in about 15 minutes...not too bad considering the traffic volumes 70,000 people create when leaving a game.

I bet you left pleased just as I did (except from my house) when the game finished.  :)

I can't claim credit for this picture, but I wanted to share it. It was taken by a young lady named Brittany Ball, who is an engineer with KYTC's District 12 but is a native of District 10. This is new construction on KY 40 in Martin County.

^ Nice moment!

Had a situation like that a month ago outside Chattanooga; but I have a strict "no road photography" policy while kids are in the car. But we all enjoyed it.

Here's mine, I was standing at Milepost 22.2 beside Interstate 55 near Hayti, Missouri on March 26th, 2010, this is my best photo so far. This section was recently paved with asphalt in 2012.

@BelpheniaProject, nice road pic on a dark, cloudy day.

I guess I could say this photo of mine taken a few weeks ago is pretty awesome. On the I-85/I-285 interchange in northeast Atlanta getting onto I-85 Northbound; I-85 can be seen down below:
