Hamilton, AL

I posted that a few pages back:

Anyways, I'm glad to see it's still there. Could use the addition of AL 4 and US 78 shields, IMO though. :colorful:

And I'm posting it again!  Sue me.  I was just happy that I found it

Here's a few more from Alabama:

And this last one is remarkable, because it's an entire salad that's just a reassurance marker:

It's a great assembly, I'll give you that. And I recognize some of those, namely the one next to the railroad crossing, the second to last one, and the last one (as I live near there). It's also one of my favorite concurrencies. Where else do you see five different highways on one road?
It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

What is/was the emergency on I-94?

That's how Michigan signs alternate detour routes to be used when the freeway is closed or backed up due to accidents or inclement weather.

I suppose I'll add to the sign salads from Alabama.

In Dothan, AL:

That was great. Thank you for posting this.

I also enjoyed the posts above for the Illinois and Indiana route markers. Good stuff!

What is with those arrows? Is that an Iowa thing or are they really extra hideous?

I used that picture as a quiz on another forum and blanked the shield to make the location less obvious. In reality it says I-65.

That's Iowa-style arrows for you, although standard-style arrows are starting to appear on new sign installations.

Edit: I've even seen intersections that mix them, although not (yet) on the same displays: SB US-65/69 and EB IA-92

So is US 65 a straight through at the intersection pictured with US 69?

Yeah, it is. That display is poorly set up.

While those arrows may be a little funky, I *love* those Interstate shields!

Just about all Interstate shields here, at least in the Des Moines area, are state-named ones. It's pretty sweet.

Another salad (well, two, actually, including the second one in the background) that I captured today: US-69 SB toward US-65 and IA-5

Edited to include a link to a picture of the second serving of salad.

Now wait just a cotton-pickin minute...US 65 goes both north and south on the same pavement in the same direction? Talk about a wrong way concurrency. What did I miss?   :hmmm:

I concur on the shields part, but I guess I'm the only person who likes Iowa arrows... To each his own, I suppose!

Nah, it's just pointing ahead to the ramp that leads to US-65 NB. That particular display isn't on US-65 itself.

Edit: here it is on Street View if anyone needs the map for context.

while admittedly nitpicky as all hell, the 3DI shields have the numerals too low for my taste (compare vs the 2DI shields) - makes them look bottom-heavy.
