State Route 180

California 180 is the major east-west corridor through Fresno County between California 33 and Sequoia National Park. Plans call for extending California 180 west to meet Interstate 5, but it is unclear when such an extension will be funded. Originally, California 180 was to cross the Sierra Nevada and meet U.S. 395 on the other side of Onion Valley via Whitney Portal near Independence, but that proposed corridor is likely to remain unconstructed due to environmental concerns.

California 145 is a major north-south route in the Central Valley, as it connects California 33 at Avenal with California 41 north of Clovis and Fresno via Five Points, Kerman, and Madera.

Prior to the completion of the freeway across Fresno, SR 180 followed a couplet of Tuolumne Street east and Stanislaus Street west between A Street and what was SR 41 (P Street) through Downtown. SR 180 eastbound follows Amador Street from Whitesbridge Avenue onto A Street south. Ground level guide signs preceded the turn of SR 180 east from A Street onto Tuolumne Street.

With the relocation of SR 180 to the north, all guide signs posted along A Street for the state route were removed.

A sign bridge along Tuolumne Street east at B Street references the split diamond interchange with SR 99. Theses overheads were amended to remove shields for SR 180.

A service road links the exit ramps from SR 99 south to Stanislaus Street and Fresno Street and the entrance ramp to the freeway south. This overhead remained after the SR 180 relocation, but without the SR 180 shield.

The next exit along California 180 (Kings Canyon-Sequoia Freeway) east is Exit 60A, California 168 (Sierra Freeway) northeast.

Eastbound California 180 (Kings Canyon-Sequoia Freeway) reaches Exit 60A, eastbound California 168 (Sierra Freeway). The next exit is Exit 60B, Cedar Avenue.

Westbound California 180 concludes at California 33 in Mendota. A study once considered extending the state route to Interstate 5.
