
County Road 524 lines Ridge Road for 5.70 miles between U.S. 19 in the city of Port Richey and CR 587 (De Cubellis Road / Moon Lake Road) by the River Ridge development. Ridge Road constitutes a four lane commercial arterial 2.53 miles east from Port Richey to Jasmine Estates and CR 1 (Little Road). The eastern half of the route serves Pasco-Hernando State College and Hidden Lake Airport (FA40).
Construction is underway along the Ridge Road Extension. Split into two phases, the western 4.2 mile long section extends from CR 587 (Moon Lake Road) to a diamond interchange with the Suncoast Parkway (SR 589). The eastern 3.4 mile segment continues the arterial to U.S. 41 (Land O' Lakes Boulevard) at Connerton Boulevard. Phase 1 construction costs are $104.09 million.
0.4 miles in length, the initial segment of the Ridge Road extension opened between CR 587 and Town Center Road in August 2020. Work on the four lane boulevard commenced in January 2020. Ridge Road opened with two-way traffic on the future eastbound roadway between Town Center Road and the Suncoast Parkway on December 31, 2021. Construction on the westbound lanes continues through September 2022.
Phase 2A construction extends Ridge Road east 0.24 miles to Sunlake Boulevard. Costing $12.75 million, the project started in June 2021 and will be completed in September 2022. Funding for Phase 2B, 3.75 miles east from Sunlake Boulevard to U.S. 41, was budgeted for fiscal year 2023.2 $47.50 million in construction is scheduled from the 4th Quarter of 2022 to December 2025.
Phase 2 opens up large tracts of land for development, including the Angeline community. Additionally a 775 acre campus for the Moffitt Cancer Center is planned near the exchange with the Suncoast Parkway.3
