SR 16 (Broadkill Road) passes south of a shopping center between SR 5 (Union Street) and Morris Avenue.

Broadkill Road curves 2.72 miles northeast from SR 5 to intersect SR 1 (Coastal Highway). SR 1 constitutes a four lane, divided highway north to the Milford Bypass and southeast to Five Points outside Lewes.

Traffic lights at SR 1 (Coastal Highway) and SR 16 (Broadkill Road) were upgraded with mast-arm supported assemblies by 2015. Long range plans call for a diamond interchange to replace the at-grade intersection.

Passing by the final confirming marker for SR 16, Broadkill Road extends the route another 3.90 miles along Broad Neck into Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge.
