Shelby Avenue crosses I-24 en route to Nissan Field and the Korean Veterans Memorial Bridge across the Cumberland River. The west end of Korean Veterans Boulevard connects with 8th Avenue and Lafayette Street at a roundabout by the Nashville Convention Center.

Shelby Avenue continues Korean Veterans Boulevard east to Shelby Park. 4th Street S continues a short distance north through an adjacent housing area. Exit 48 follows from I-24 west as a loop ramp onto U.S. 31-41-431 (James Robertson Parkway) south to the Tennessee State Capitol complex.

Westbound I-24 advances to the directional interchange (Exit 46) with Interstate 65. The forthcoming exchange was originally the north end of I-265. I-265 west to I-40 was renumbered in 2000 as the relocated I-65.

Exit 46 B for I-65 south leads westward toward Downtown Nashville and I-40 west to Memphis. Exit 46 A simply represents the Interstate 24 westbound mainline as it joins I-65 north for a 1.8 mile overlap.

U.S. 431 branches west from U.S. 31W/41 (Dickerson Pike) 0.44 miles to Exit 87. U.S. 431 turns north 0.81 miles west of Brick Church Pike and Avondale and meets I-24 again at Exit 35. I-24/65 part ways in 1.5 miles.
