Route 50
North Carolina Route 50 originates at the south end of Topsail Beach along the Atlantic Ocean. The highway parallels the coast northeast to Surf City before turning inland alongside NC 210 to Holly Ridge.
Straddling the western periphery of Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, NC 50 advances north from U.S. 17. Further north, NC 50 overlaps with NC 41 west across the Northeast Cape Fear River before angling northwest to Kenansville.
NC 24 Business combines with NC 50 northwest from NC 11 in Kenansville to Warsaw. NC 50 joins U.S. 117 from the Duplin County town a concurrency with NC 403 west at Faison. Paralleling I-40, NC 50 continues north to NC 55, which it joins west to Newton Grove.
NC 50 stays west of Interstate 40 beyond NC 55 and Newton Grove to Benson and Garner in the Raleigh metropolitan area. Through the capital city, NC 50 accompanies U.S. 70 to Downtown and Crabtree Valley beyond I-440 (Cliff Benson Beltline).
Leaving Raleigh, NC 50 travels to Falls Lake and the Granville city of Creedmoor. One final overlap takes NC 50 west alongside NC 56 (Wilton Avenue) 0.18 miles to U.S. 15 (Durham Avenue).
