U.S. 1 North - Northern Wake County

U.S. 1 northbound at the directional cloverleaf interchange with I-540 (Northern Wake Expressway). I-540 travels east to I-87/U.S. 64-264 near Knightdale and west to I-40 near Research Triangle Park (RTP). I-540 ended here between August 12, 2002 and January 16, 2007.

A loop ramp joins U.S.. 1 north with Interstate 540 west to U.S. 70, RDU Airport, and Durham. U.S. 1 continues northeast to Wake Forest and Henderson.
