U.S. 1 in North Carolina travels northeast from Rockingham to Norlina through east central portions of the state. The route follows a freeway from Sanford to the Cliff Benson Beltline (I-40/440) around Raleigh. A second limited access section connects U.S. 1 with I-85 at Henderson as well.
