Funded by the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP), a $23 million project underway from late Summer 2022 to November 2023 upgraded U.S. 12/18 to limited access standards from a new dumbbell interchange constructed with CTH-AB.1 The exchange was built west of milepost 270.2 and this scene.

A ribbon cutting for the interchange (Exit 269) joining U.S. 12/18 with County AB took place on September 21, 2023.1

The at-grade intersection with Millpond Road along U.S. 12/18 was eliminated as part of the 2022/23 HSIP Project. Frontage roads, Maahic Way and Millpond Pond, were constructed west from County AB to service adjacent businesses and the Dane County Landfill.

The bridge taking U.S. 12/18 across Upper Mud Lake was built in 1990. This was the final potion of the Madison Beltline to be completed.

The experiment using Clearview font on guide signs along the Madison Beltline was short lived as signs for Exit 264 using Highway Gothic were placed only two years after trying Clearview.
