U.S. Highway 380 West - Clairmont to Post

U.S. 380 west
As seen here, US 380 has a brief overlap with SH 208 beginning at Clairemont. Photo taken 01/25/08.
Several miles later, SH 208 continues southward. It eventually goes to Snyder, IH 20, and San Angelo. Photo taken 01/25/08.
West of the junction with SH 208, US 380 enters more rolling country. Low hills can be seen on the horizon far off in some places. Photos taken 01/25/08.
Garza County, and a new TxDot district and pavement, are encountered after a lengthy journey though deserted countryside in western Kent County. Photo taken 01/25/08.
As is evident in this view, Garza County is not much more populated than Kent. Very little traffic is encountered, and definitely no services. Photo taken 01/25/08.
Post is the county seat and is the first populated place encountered in the county. Post was founded by cereal magnate C.W. Post as a model utopian town. The Post Cereal Company built houses and a cotton gin and large textile plant. Photo taken 01/25/08.
At Post, several US highways are encountered. SH 207 runs north to Ralls and US 62. Photo taken 01/25/08.
Before entering the town center, US 380 meets Loop 46, which goes south to US 84. Photo taken 01/25/08.
This US 380 westbound reassurance marker sits just east of downtown Post. Photo taken 01/25/08.
At Post, the US highway is paved with bricks. Downtown Post is quaint and has a very large historic center with many brick buildings. Photo taken 01/25/08.
With the County Courthouse beyond, US 380 meets US 84. Photo taken 01/25/08.
US 84 is a major route from IH 20 to IH 27, and meets only one traffic light on that stretch, right here at Post. US 380 continues westward onto the Caprock and into New Mexico from here. Photo taken 01/25/08.
