A relatively minor error here, but I spotted this assembly at the east end of AL 216 yesterday morning:

It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

One trailblazer where US-83B meets US-83 / future I-2 (in Texas) was rotated, leading to this odd assembly (also redundant):

Also an erroneous "EXIT ONLY" on a ramp from the Morrison Bridge in Portland:

hah. i had completely missed that; i was commenting on the bizarre spacing between the shields and the directional and arrow placards.

Someone confused Oxford, Mississippi and Oxford, Massachusetts by putting MS 12 signs in the latter. My own photo was very poor quality (and it's a good thing I didn't get a better one because I was on a bus and a good quality photo would have been directly in the path of someone who told me not to take a photo of her), so here's a GSV.

Not necessarily erroneous, given the 2009 MUTCD signing treatment on option lanes. But agreed that "exit only" wasn't necessary here.

And the funnier thing is there is no VA 372 there anymore, it was decommissioned a few years ago and replaced with a new VA 372 serving a prison near Pocahontas.

About what milepost is that at? I don't remember seeing that either of the last two times I was there, once in 2021 and once with my mom in 2022.

I took the picture in 2013, so it probably was replaced or removed since then.

Unfortunately, no way to check anytime soon as it was past the current road closure.  Last I heard, they were talking 2026 before that stretch of 504 is reopened.

Amaury

Hopefully it's sooner. Chinook Pass had a couple of washouts that delayed it opening early on May 24 with Cayuse Pass, but those have since been taken care of, and Chinook Pass reopened yesterday, May 31. There's still some roadwork they have to do related to that, but it's open now.

Unfortunately, just as SR 504 was supposed to open last year, that's when the washout there happened. They probably needed some time to come up with an action plan before starting work on repairs, so they weren't able to begin repairs last year, and as such, I can understand it not being ready to reopen this year. However, I think it would be possible to reopen it next year in 2025. I'm not an expert in this, though, and I'm not going to pretend know what I'm talking about. I'm sure there's a reason for the safety of the public that it won't reopen until 2026.

I just looked up WSDOT's webpage on the project, and here's what it has to say:

"WSDOT estimates that permanent access will not be restored for public or administrative use at least until the latter part of 2026. Unfortunately, this means access will not be restored to the upper stretch and terminus of SR 504 until the full roadway repair is completed. We know that is deeply disappointing to many in the community. This 2026 estimate is based on necessary phases of any WSDOT project (planning, roadway and bridge design, environmental assessment and permitting, bid and contracting processes and material procurement) and the reality that this location of upper SR 504 isn't accessible for approximately six months of any given year due to high elevations and harsh winter weather."
