Taking that question differently...  Juice is better than water by giving you some vitamins.  But the huge sugar content more than offsets that.  I do drink a small glass of grapefruit juice every morning.

Quote from: kphoger on May 29, 2025, 12:45:41 PMWindows 11 does not allow me to move the taskbar, nor to resize it.
Quote from: D-Dey65 on May 30, 2025, 09:33:17 PMThat doesn't seem very promising.

One thing that has helped a little bit recently was to change my display settings to where (1) the taskbar duplicates on the second screen but (2) only the programs that are on each screen show in that particular screen's taskbar.

→ Settings
→ Personalization
→ Taskbar
→ Taskbar behaviors
→ When using multiple displays, show my taskbar apps on [Taskbar where window is open]

Quote from: ZLoth on June 02, 2025, 02:58:33 PMI ended up using a registry tweak to restore the "Windows 10 Styled Context Menu". It made a difference.

I don't want to go that route, because I've read of registry tweaks later becoming ineffective after some Windows update or another that renders them useless.

It can happen, but unlikely. You can run a program like Utimate Windows Tweaker for Windows 110 to make the changes. Personally, I prefer the Windows 10 Styled Context menu, but also hate the little shortcut arrows and the "Shortcut to" wording.

All I really want is the ability to move the taskbar to be vertical along the side instead of horizontal along the bottom.  And, when I was googling to see if that was possible, I read people's accounts of doing reg edits to fix that specific issue that were later rendered ineffective.

While we're at it, I'd like a setting for Windows to not open a window right on top of the one you're working in, when you've already left more than enough desktop space for it.

Seems to be one of those annoyances that crept into Windows 10 and I'm not sure how to find a setting (if there is one) to prevent it. I recall windows back down to XP was pretty good about remembering where to lay down a new window when you wanted to compare files and copy/move/paste them into a new folder.

But the exact same thing happens to Canada, or the UK, or France, or Mexico, or even Russia, and fucking crickets happen.

This isn't even just related to politics: an event that kills 19 people in Canada is sent to articles for deletion, but an event in the US that only kills 7 is perfectly fine.

I do enjoy the fact that an article exists for Covfefe, but yeah, there are much more historically significant things that haven't been written about (and probably will never be written about since it's the Horse Eye's Back ilk controlling the show now).

Is selling "hope improvement" a major seller at your local big box retailer?  What was the shrink on hope last year?

Dude, you did that last one to yourself and wrecked an interesting thread (RIP Jonathan Joss) in the process.  I don't buy that you didn't know what the reaction was going to be to that YouTube video you linked.

Totally.

HB, you know that I lean conservative, especially on this issue, but come on, dude.

When the phrase "we've known for a long time that LGBT activists have a persecution fantasy" introduces the video in its very first four seconds, there's no way you could seriously have expected that to go unmoderated.  It was not "overly sensitive" for them to remove the embedded video, and posting was only going to take the thread from decently respectful to hot-tempered in 60 seconds.

Yes, but Wikipedia isn't a news site - it's a reference site.

Yesterday's US falling out, for example, should be treated like yesterday's UK falling out - a couple of paragraphs added to a couple of relevant existing pages. It doesn't need its own article.

It really didn't need a Wikipedia article. But fledgling Wikipedia articles aren't exactly crafted by a panel of experts. What appears on that website is determined by random nerdy keyboard-wielding whiners with no qualifications, like ourselves.  Wikipedia is like what a real encyclopedia would be if it was thrown to the wolves.

That is funny coming from you. You're the one who's overly sensitive about what pretty much everyone gets up to. Even in your signature you show your sensitivity (perhaps developed into a full-blown hatred) toward an entire city and an entire government.
