Photos looking north along Highway 400 from the Rutherford Road overpass in Vaughan.  These photos are a bit out of date, taken in 2023 before work had really gotten going on the widening of the 400 through the Vaughan:

Very nice shots. I wish you'd leave the EXIF data on the downloadable ones. I'm always curious about camera, lens, settings.

Good to see that Highway 417 will be extended westwards towards Renfrew!

Then on to the Sault!
Probably never to be honest...
Probably not. The Echo Bay bypass, the Sudbury southwest and southeast bypasses, and the stretch of freeway west of Sudbury past Whitefish to just before the traffic light at DenLou are the only major improvements I've seen in my lifetime on that stretch of Highway 17. Still one can dream.

In other northern news, there are going to be even more delays to close the freeway gap along Highway 69/future Highway 400 north of Parry Sound.

QuoteMagnetawan First Nation, south of Sudbury wants the provincial government to deal with its 2021 land claim issue before the community provides property for widening Highway 69.
...
Magnetawan said the boundaries under the 1850 Robinson Huron Treaty were not properly set out.

"Originally, when they did the survey in 1851, they did the survey in miles rather than leagues, and a league is worth more than miles," [Chief] Nogonash said.

"So that's where we got short-changed."

I'd love to see the original maps to see what was actually supposed to be laid out versus the treaty document. It seems that a group of qualified land surveyors would be able to make short work of these claims. It's just unfortunate that this issue is holding up a needed highway corridor.

More on ON 400 through the First Nation: they appear to still be interested in moving the expansion forward despite the dispute.

^ I find that spot odd.  Usually when a super-2 has an interchange like that with plans for future widening, the interchange is built largely to its final geometry, with the ramps on the opposite side of the existing carriageway having extensions to meet traffic (example).  But in this case, it appears that the interchange ramps will need to be rebuilt and significant work done on ON 17 to widen it to four lanes and extend ON 417 (beyond simply building the other carriageway), which is odd as it is my understanding that such would be the next project for extending it to Renfrew.

Here's a google screenshot of the temporary ramp that was constructed during the widening of Autoroute 50 east of Buckingham in Quebec.

Despite the ramps favourable geometry when A-50 operated as a super-2 the old ramp still needs to be closed where they actually build the new carriageway in order to both, build the carriageway to full strength, and to make sure the grading is correct for the final pavement elevation:

At the Calabogie Interchange most of the ramp alignments support the final interchange configuration, but unless they had built a short segment of future westbound carriageway, and done full-depth reconstruction of the existing carriageway, some of the advanced interchange was always going to be throwaway.

It would likely cost about $15 billion to get that far. But there are large sections, especially around North Bay and Sudbury, with traffic counts around 10,000.

If I were to guess the exit numbers:

CR 6 - Exit 206
Highway 60 - Exit 208
CR 20 - Exit 211

Photos of the Yonge Street bridge north of Bradford that will carry Yonge Street (Simcoe Road 4, old Highway 11) overtop of the Bradford By-pass.  Photos from September, 2025:

Three views looking east at the western side of the new bridge.  The bridge has been backfilled to reduce the amount of ponding beneath the structure until the new highway is built.  Construction on the western segment from Yonge Street to the 400 is supposed to start later this year:

The more I look the corridor of the Bradford bypass, the more we could imagine a western extension west of Hwy-401 going southwest to reach the future Hwy-413 or going west to meet a northern extension of Hwy-427.
