County Road 315 within Marion County travels 21.67 miles north from SR 40 by Silver Springs State Park to CR 316 at Fort McCoy and CR 318 at Orange Springs. CR 315 crosses Orange Creek northeast from CR 21 into Putnam County.

21.36 miles long in Putnam County, CR 315 initially heads east by Ocklawaha Lake to Kenwood. Turning north, the highway continues into the town of Interlachen. Shifting west between Hart Lake and Silver Lake, CR 315 advances to SR 100 at Grandin and over a ridge topping out at 170 feet above sea level into Clay County.

There are three branches of CR 315 in Clay County. Renumbered to CR 315C, the southern leg runs 7.88 miles north from Putnam County to Hall Lake and SR 21 at Camp Blanding Wildlife Management Area. The middle section comprises a rural loop 14.43 miles from SR 21 east to the Ates Creek Tract of Belmore State Forest to SR 16 between Pass Station and Green Cove Springs. 4.18 miles in length, the northern branch of CR 315 lines the west side of Green Cove Springs from SR 16 north before turning east to Fellowship Park and U.S. 17.
