SR 19 runs north to Lake George before turning westward to Salt Springs. South of Ocala National Forest, SR 19 continues to Umatilla and Eustis.

The high level bridge across the Ocklawaha River on SR 40 was constructed to accommodate the Cross Florida Barge Canal. The waterway however was never completed.

Built in 1972, the Ocklawaha River Bridge replaced a low level span to the immediate south. A portion of old SR 40 (NE 28th Lane) was repurposed to connect with Ray Wayside Park.

Continuing west along Silver Springs State Park and the Cross Florida Greenway, SR 40 next meets the south end of CR 315.
