Construction for I-74 included the addition of a c/d roadway southward to the diamond interchange (Exit 113A) with NC 62. NC 62 previously met I-85 at Burlington. The state route arcs southwest from there through Alamance, Julian and Climax to I-85 en route to Archdale.
