Highway 22

Iowa 22 travels 98 miles east from Iowa 21 in rural northwestern Keokuk County to U.S. 61 Business (West River Drive) in Davenport. The route mostly travels through agricultural areas as it joins small cities from Thornburg east to Wellman, Kalona, Riverside and Nichols west of Muscatine. The state highway combines with U.S. 61 to bypass Downtown Muscatine before turning south alongside Iowa 38 and 92 to Washington Street and its parallel alignment to the Mississippi River. Iowa 22 follows the west/north banks of the river to Montpelier, Buffalo and the Quad Cities.

The Riverside History Center is dubbed the "The Voyage Home" based off of Star Trek. The center provides history of the city and some relating to the famous TV show. Based upon its status as the future birthplace of James T. Kirk, the city hosts an annual festival called Trek Fest. Motorists passing by may notice this miniature USS Enterprise, named the USS Riverside, which sits out front of the history center.
