Interstate 95 Delaware - North


Centered exit tabs remained on several of the Interstate 95 overheads through Wilmington until 2006. 10/12/04

The Hilltop community of Wilmington rises just north of the I-95 viaduct. Tree lined streets and row homes are representative of the city. 03/22/04

A 1998 sign replacement of a 1960s guide sign for Exit 7 with Seventh Street retained the center exit tab. This sign was again replaced in 2006. 10/12/04

The pull-through panel preceding Exit 7 listed the next three interchanges (Exits 8, 9, and 10); however the 2006-replacement omitted Exit 10 (Harvey Road). 10/12/04

A monotube assembly for Exit 7 replaced this sign bridge on the Wilmington Viaduct by 2020. 12/30/18

I-95 transitions from the Wilmington Viaduct into a below grade freeway. All subsequent signs for Exit 7 were replaced by 2006. 04/10/04

One block to the north at Seventh Street on I-95 north. Improvements made here between 2001 and 2004, included bridge painting, new landscaping and new guard rails. 03/22/04

2006 replaced overheads at the Eighth Street overpass above I-95. The replacement sign for Exit 8 changed Right Lane to 1 Mile. 04/10/04

A U.S. 202 marker appears along side the northbound on-ramp from Tenth Street. All other trailblazers and guide signs for I-95 posted along Wilmington city streets ignore dthe overlap with U.S. 202. 03/18/04

Large Interstate 95 northbound reassurance shield posted at the Adams Street northbound on-ramp from SR 52. There are no U.S. 202 reassurance shields posted at all on the 5.94-mile overlap between the two routes. 03/18/04

"This Lane Ends - 3/4 Mile" overhead carbon copied in 2006 from a 1960s-era sign. The sign was the subject of the August 20, 2007 "Fix It:" column in The News Journal (Wilmington, DE). A reader wrote to the Journal paper that the sign was incorrect in that the lane does not end, but rather continues to Exit 8. 10/12/04

DelDOT amended the lane ends sign at the Brandywine Creek bridge with an overlay changing "this lane ends" to "this lane exit only" 12/29/07
