Interstate 5 South - Glenn County

Interstate 5 south
		After entering Glenn County, the exit number signage again ends. Interstate 5 south approaches Exit 619, California 32 east to Business Loop I-5 and Old U.S. 99W. This is the main exit from Interstate 5 south into Orland. The business loop leaves the freeway here and does not join Interstate 5 again until Willows. Note the use of the red-white-blue shield rather than the usual green business loop shield on this signage. This marks the western terminus of California 32; California 32 leads east toward Chico and California 36 and 89 west of Lake Almanor. This business route follows old U.S. 99W. 	Southbound Interstate 5 meets Exit 619, southbound Business Loop I-5 and Eastbound California 32. California 32 leads east from this interchange to Chico and California 99, then turns northeast to meet California 89 and California 36 in Deer Creek Meadows west of Lake Almandor. 	The next exit along Interstate 5 south is Exit 603, Business Loop I-5/California 162 in Willows. California 162 leads east to Business Loop I-5 and Old U.S. 99W in Willows. Note the use of a tri-color Interstate 5 shield in the auxiliary panel rather than the traditional "Route 5 Business Next Right" in text. This would only be better if a green business loop shield were used instead of a tricolor shield. Photo taken 01/20/03.
	The next exit along Interstate 5 south is Exit 603, Business Loop I-5/California 162 in Willows, one-half mile. West California 162 leads into the Mendocino National Forest, but it does not continue as a state highway through the forest. An orphaned section of California 162 exists near U.S. 101, but it is very unlikely that these two sections will ever connect due to the environmental concerns of putting this road through the national forest.
