A planned trip to the Mid-Atlantic was postponed due to COVID19, so took the opportunity to at least catch up on more of the photo backlog in North Carolina and Virginia from previous trips through the region. We have several thousand photos from both states dating back to 2013 that have yet to make the site. Plus a number of pages, some untouched since 2005, that needed attention. Still a lot more content to get through, but definitely made some progress.

North Carolina Updates:

  • Interstate 40 – updated photos eastbound from Durham to Wilmington and westbound from I-95 to Durham (12/15/16, 01/19/19, 02/15/19).
  • Interstate 87 – created new page with coverage of both directions along side U.S. 64/264.
  • Interstate 95 – completed revising southbound coverage statewide with photos from 01/01/17 to 02/19/19.
  • Interstate 140 – updated both directions of I-140/NC 140 with photos from 01/19/19.
  • Interstate 277 – updated northbound guide with photos from 05/26/19 and south with photos from 06/01/12 and 05/26/19.
  • Interstate 285 – created new page. Shields for I-285 were posted along U.S. 52 starting in Fall 2018. Guide signs have finally been updated this year to show the designation.
  • Future I-295 / NC 295 – the most recent portion of the Fayetteville Outer Loop opened to traffic on November 26, 2019. A short section will open south to U.S. 401 (Raeford Road) by the end of this year. Added northbound photos from 12/13/17 and southbound photos from 01/01/17, 12/21/18 and 01/18/19.
  • Interstate 485 – partitioned content for the Inner Loop into three sections. Added photos along the inner loop south from I-85 to Mint Hill and west to Pineville from 05/26/19.
  • Interstate 540 / NC 540 – created new pages covering both directions of the Triangle Expressway. Replaced photos on the Northern Wake Expressway westbound from 02/15/19 and added eastbound coverage from I-40 to Exit 4 (U.S. 70) from 02/15/19 and the east end with I-87 from 12/15/16.
  • Interstate 785 – Created guide and north and southbound pages with photos from 12/15/16 and 01/17/19.
  • Interstate 795 – funding delays due to COVID19 will push back future work on the southern extension from Goldsboro to I-40. Separated page into sections for north and southbound and added photos or replaced those from 12/16/07 with ones shot on 12/14/17.
  • Interstate 840 – Greensboro Urban Loop – Updated guide and created pages for east and westbound between I-40 and U.S. 220 with photos from 12/15/16 and 01/17/19.
  • Business Loop I-95 – split into north and southbound pages with photos added southbound from 01/01/17.
  • U.S. 1 – added page covering the freeway north from Chatham County to I-40/440 at Raleigh and replaced eight photos southbound from NC 540 to Merry Oaks (02/15/19).
  • U.S. 13 – created page with initial coverage near Fayetteville.
  • U.S. 15/501 – added 16 photos from U.S. 1 south of Sanford to NC 24/27 in Carthage (01/18/19) and 30 photos northbound from I-40 to NC 147 in Durham (12/15/16).
  • U.S. 64 – added pages covering U.S. 64 east / Future I-87 north from Rocky Mount to Williamston with photos taken on 10/12/14 and 12/14/17
  • U.S. 74 – added three photos eastbound at Mecklenburg County and four in Union County from 05/26/19. Ten photos added to U.S. 74 westbound in Wilmington from 01/19/19
  • U.S. 76 – replaced six photos covering the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge and updated U.S. 74/76 West – Leland to Chadbourn with seven photos from 01/19/19.
  • U.S. 74 Bypass – Monroe Expressway – created page. Posted photos covering eastbound from 05/26/19 and 08/18/19.
  • U.S. 264 – created page. Added photos along U.S. 264 /Future I-587 eastbound from Zebulon to Greenville from 07/28/13 and 12/15/16.
  • U.S. 401 – split coverage with two new pages covering northbound from Fayetteville to Lillington and south from Lillington to Fayetteville from 01/18/19.
  • U.S. 401 Business – Fayetteville – created page.
  • NC Highway 87 – added a section on the Martin Luther King, Jr. Freeway in Fayetteville and photos from 12/13/17 and 02/17/19.
  • NC Highway 133 – added photos of the diverging diamond interchange joining NC 133 with U.S. 17-74-76 at Leland.
  • NC Highway 147 – created new page covering the Durham Freeway and northern extent of the Triangle Expressway.
  • All American Freeway (SR 1007) – created page covering the freeway and Owen Drive in Fayetteville.
