California 77
Routing
California 77 is a short, unsigned state route that follows High Street from Interstate 880/Nimitz Freeway northeast to California 185/International Boulevard in Oakland. The entire state route is freeway and functions as a connecting route from Oakland city streets onto the Nimitz Freeway. Plans called for a much more elaborate freeway route that would have continued northeast through Oakland into Moraga along an old railroad right of way, but plans for such a route have stalled and are now dormant. Proposed California 77 appeared on Gousha maps of the East Bay for many years in the 1960s and 1970s.
