State Route 77

California 77 is a short, unsigned route that follows High Street from Interstate 880 (Nimitz Freeway) northeast to California 185 (International Boulevard) in Oakland. The entire state route is freeway and functions as a connecting route from Oakland city streets onto the Nimitz Freeway. Plans called for a much more elaborate freeway route that would have continued northeast through Oakland into Moraga along an old railroad right of way. These were subsequently stalled and are now dormant. Proposed California 77 appeared on 1960s and 1970s editions of Gousha maps of the East Bay.
