Opening in segments between 1983 and 2009, Interstate 295 follows the East Beltway around a 25.53 mile loop through the eastern suburbs of Jacksonville. Connecting the First Coast city with its ports and beaches, the East Beltway continues from the West Beltway and I-95 near Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) east and south through Arlington and Southside before reuniting with the West Beltway at I-95 near Greenland.

Interstate 295 South
The flyover from Interstate 95 south to the East Beltway connects with I-295 one half mile ahead of the folded diamond interchange (Exit 36) with U.S. 17 (Main Street). 03/03/13
I-295 continues with two lanes southbound beyond the lane drop for U.S. 17 to San Mateo, Oceanway and Duval in north Jacksonville. 03/03/13
Exit 36 departs for U.S. 17 (Main Street) south to Imeson Park and Jacksonville Zoo. U.S. 17 north leaves Jacksonville through the Pecan community en route to Yulee and Kingsland, Georgia. Prior to the completion of the East Beltway, I-295 ended here. 03/03/13

Jaxport terminals are reached via SR 105 east at Exit 41. Area beaches are accessed via SR 202 east (Butler Boulevard). I-295 returns to I-95 near Greenland in 24 miles. 03/03/13
Pulaski Road meets the East Beltway at a diamond interchange (Exit 37) in one quarter mile. The I-95/I-295 North Interchange Operational Improvements Project adds an auxiliary lane southeast to Exit 37. 09/25/22
Exit 37 connects Interstate 295 with Eastport Road in Oceanway to the south and New Berlin Road at Jamestown to the north. 09/25/22
The succeeding exit is 2.25 miles ahead at Alta Drive. SR 113 (Southside Connector) is a short freeway linking the East Beltway with SR 115 (Southside Boulevard) in Arlington, 7.75 miles to the south. 09/25/22
Since demolished, twin cooling stacks from JEA Northside were formerly visible above the treeline along Interstate 295 south at Dunn Creek Road. 09/25/22
The East Beltway spans Dunn Creek a half mile ahead of Exit 40 to Alta Drive. Dunn Creek is a tributary of the St. Johns River. 09/25/22
Alta Drive links the East Beltway at North New Berlin with New Berlin Road to the south and with Yellow Bluff Road in Oceanway to the north. 09/25/22
Interstate 295 proceeds south one mile to Exit 41 for SR 105 (Heckscher Drive). 09/25/22
SR 105 extends west to Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens and east to Dave Rawls Boulevard spanning the St. Johns River south to the Blount Island Marine Terminal and USMC Blount Island. 09/25/22
Southbound Interstate 295 widens to three lanes ahead of Exit 41. SR 105 (Heckscher Drive) runs east along the St. Johns River to Brown Island and Little Marsh Hill. 09/25/22
SR 105 travels east nine miles to SR A1A at the Fort George Island-Mayport Ferry landing. 09/25/22
The towers of the Napolean Bonaparte Broward cable-stayed bridge come into view as Exit 41 leaves with two lanes. SR 105 east connects with SR A1A north to Little Talbot, Big Talbot and Amelia Islands along the Atlantic Ocean. 09/25/22
State Road 105 (Zoo Parkway) travels 15.20 miles overall in Jacksonville west from SR A1A at Fort George Island to Interstate 95 at Highlands. 09/25/22
A distributor roadway extends south from Exit 41 / SR 105 (Zoo Parkway) to a ramp for adjacent New Berlin Road to the Dames Point Terminals. 09/25/22
Interstate 295 advances south toward the N.B. Broward Bridge over the St. Johns River at Dames Point. 09/25/22
The next two freeway connections along the East Beltway are 11 and 19 miles ahead respectively. 09/25/22
Commonly referred locally as the Dames Point Bridge, the span accommodates three lanes in each direction with narrow shoulders. 09/25/22
The Napolean Bonaparte Broward Bridge spans the St. Johns River south from Dames Point Turn to Bartram Island and Mill Cove. 09/25/22
Opened to traffic March 10, 1989, the cable-stayed bridge along I-295 rises 175 feet above the river and is supported by twin 471 foot concrete towers that feature a harp-style cable arrangement for overall strength.1 09/25/22
The N.B. Broward Bridge measures 10,646 feet in length with an 86.9 foot wide deck.2 09/25/22
The south end of the Dames Point Bridge is part of an S-curve taking Interstate 295 across Mill Cove and into the Gilmore section of Jacksonville. 09/25/22
A lane drop occurs beyond the Dames Point Bridge at the wye interchange (Exit 45) with SR 113 and the Southside Connector. 09/25/22
Southside Connector is a 3.03 mile long limited access route linking I-295 with SR 115 at the Arlington Expressway and Southside Boulevard. Running just south of the I-295/SR 113 split, Merrill Road shares ramps with each freeway. 09/25/22
Motorists to Merrill Road east are directed onto SR 113 at Exit 45 while Interstate 295 connects with Merrill Road west in one half mile. Merrill Road carries SR 116 east of the Beltway toward Naval Station Mayport. 09/25/22
Merrill Road extends 2.70 miles west from the end of SR 116 at the parclo interchange (Exit 46) with I-295 to SR 109 (University Boulevard) at Jacksonville University. 09/25/22
SR 113 (Southside Connector) crosses over the beltway mainline as Exit 46 leaves I-295 southbound for Merrill Road west to the Arlington Hills, Arlingtonwood and Lake Lucina neighborhoods of Jacksonville. 09/25/22
Interstate 295 curves southeast into the Regency community ahead of Exit 47 for Monument Road. Monument Road east provides an alternative route to SR 116 and Naval Station Mayport. 09/25/22
Monument Road leads south to SR 10 (Atlantic Boulevard) at Regency Square Mall and northeast to Fort Caroline National Memorial along the St. Johns River. 09/25/22
A diamond interchange joins Interstate 295 with Monument Road at Exit 47. 09/25/22
Forthcoming SR 10 (Atlantic Boulevard) connects the Beltway with Arlington in Jacksonville to the west and Atlantic and Neptune Beaches. 09/25/22
Interstate 295 passes through Atlantic Boulevard Estates neighborhood ahead of the single point urban interchange (Exit 48) with SR 10. 09/25/22
Six miles separate I-295 south from SR 202 (Butler Boulevard) and 14 miles to the South Interchange with Interstate 95. 09/25/22
Atlantic Boulevard carries SR 10 west to Arlington Expressway and U.S. 90 at St. Nicholas. The arterial extends east to East Arlington, Girvin and SR A1A at Atlantic Beach. 09/25/22
I-295 south spans St. Johns Bluff Road between Southside Estates and Sandlewood. Prior to the completion of the East Beltway, SR 9A defaulted onto St. Johns Bluff Road at this point, following the local arterial to SR 202 (Butler Boulevard). 09/25/22

The East Beltway shifts eastward through an S-curve across Alden Road one mile out from U.S. 90 (Beach Boulevard). 09/25/22
I-295 meets University of North Florida Drive east in two miles and SR 202 (Butler Boulevard) in three miles. The SPUI (Exit 51) with U.S. 90 (Beach Boulevard) is 0.75 miles away. 09/25/22
U.S. 90 (Beach Boulevard) constitutes an arterial route east from The South Campus of Florida State College nearby to SR A1A in Jacksonville Beach. 09/25/22
Interstate 295 expands with tolled Express Lanes south at the forthcoming exchange with Town Center Parkway. 09/25/22
West from Exit 51, U.S. 90 (Beach Boulevard) runs between Southside Estates and Windy Hill to the Commodore Point Expressway (SR 228) at Hogan and I-95/U.S. 1 at Southside. 09/25/22
The I-295 Express Lanes run 6.6 miles south along the East Beltway to a point just beyond the separation with SR 9B. 09/25/22
Spanning Central Parkway and Sawmill Slough, Interstate 295 advances a half mile south to a single point urban interchange (Exit 52) with University of North Florida Drive and Town Center Parkway. 09/25/22
Meeting I-295 in 1.5 miles, SR 202 (Butler Boulevard) is a limited access freeway connecting Interstate 95 with Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach. 09/25/22
Exit 52 connects the East Beltway with the University of North Florida (UNF) campus and nearby St. Johns Town Center. Town Center Parkway arcs southwest to the retail power center and Gate Parkway while University of North Florida Drive continues east into UNF. 09/25/22
The I-295 Express Lanes commence south along the East Beltway just beyond the Town Center Parkway underpass. 09/25/22
SR 202 (J. Turner Butler Boulevard) extends west to Interstate 95 at South Point and east to SR A1A in Jacksonville Beach. Prior to its truncation at Town Center Parkway, St. Johns Bluff Road met SR 202 at a diamond interchange where Exit 53 is. 09/25/22
Originally built as a toll facility, J. Turner Butler Boulevard (SR 202) opened at various stages between 1979 and 1997. Tolls were lifted on the freeway by 1988. 09/25/22
A 13.02 mile long route, SR 202 (Butler Boulevard) extends west to U.S. 1 (Philips Highway) at Southpoint and east to Isle of Palms and a trumpet interchange with SR A1A. 09/25/22
Opened to traffic in 2009, the turbine interchange joining I-295 and SR 202 was the final upgrade completing the East Beltway. 09/25/22
Continuing south through the exchange with SR 202, I-295 enters the Deerwood area of Jacksonville ahead of Exit 54 / Gate Parkway. 09/25/22
Construction started on the I-295 Express Lanes south from Windy Hills to Deercreek in Spring 2016. The $139.9 million project through the end of 2022 added two toll lanes in each direction. 09/25/22
Gate Parkway weaves between a number of office parks and apartment/condo complexes at Deerwood southeast from SR 202 (Turner Boulevard) to I-295 at Exit 54 and Baymeadows Road E. 09/25/22
Construction of the I-295 Express Lanes included improvements at the exchange with Gate Parkway. The managed lanes opened to traffic south to SR 9B / Exit 58 on April 9, 2022. 09/25/22

SR 152 follows Baymeadows Road west across South Side Jacksonville from Interstate 295 to Deerwood Center, Briarwood and SR 13 (San Jose Boulevard) at Goodbys Creek. 09/25/22
Baymeadows Road extends east and north from the diamond interchange (Exit 56) with the East Beltway to Gate Parkway. 6.42 miles in length, SR 152 west links with SR 115 (Southside Boulevard) and Interstate 95. 09/25/22
State Road 9B branches south from Interstate 295 at a wye interchange (Left Exit 58) in 2.5 miles. 09/25/22

SR 9B south provides a direct route to Interstate 95 south from the East Beltway. SR 9B south opened initially 4.6 miles from I-295 to U.S. 1 (Philips Highway) near Bayard in September 2013. 09/25/22
Phase 2 of SR 9B opened to traffic on June 13, 2016,2 completing the bypass route of Interstate 95 from Oceanway to St. Johns County. The I-295 Express Lanes conclude beyond the ramps for SR 9B. 09/25/22
Left Exit 58 departs with two lanes for SR 9B south. Phase 3 of SR 9B south to St. Johns Parkway opened to traffic in August 2018.2 The commuter route joins U.S. 1 (Philips Highway) south to Bartram Springs and Nocatee. 09/25/22
A diamond interchange (Exit 1) joins SR 9B with heavy suburban development along E-Town Parkway one mile south from Interstate 295. 09/25/22
Curving southwest through the Deercreek community, the East Beltway heads to the final two exits for U.S. 1 (Philips Highway) and I-95. 09/25/22
The I-295 Express Lanes west onto the Buckman Bridge commence just beyond the systems interchange with Interstate 95. 09/25/22
I-295 south reaches the folded diamond interchange (Exit 60) with U.S. 1 (Philips Highway), 1.5 miles ahead of I-95 and the West Beltway. U.S. 1 angles northwest along Philips Highway to Baymeadows Center and San Marco in Jacksonville and southeast toward St. Augustine. 09/25/22
Spanning U.S. 1 and the Florida East Coast Railway (FEC), I-295 advances west to Exit 61 / Interstate 95 through the Greenland community in South Side Jacksonville. 09/25/22
Exit 61B departs I-295 south in a half mile for Interstate 95 north to Baymeadows, Englewood and Spring Park in Jacksonville. 09/25/22
Interstate 295 south transitions to I-295 north along the West Beltway ahead of Old St. Augustine Road / Exit 3 at Mandarin Station. 09/25/22
Interstate 95 travels 14 miles northwest to the Big I interchange with I-10 west of Downtown Jacksonville. Daytona Beach is a 75 mile long drive to the south. 09/25/22
The East Beltway opened between U.S. 1 and the South Interchange with Interstate 95 in 2005. 09/25/22
