Totaling 1.08 miles, MD 591 consists of a two segment route along Colora and Porters Bridge Road in northern Cecil County. The two roads follow an old alignment of U.S. 1 that crossed Octoraro Creek over a wooden deck truss bridge. The Colora Road portion is signed as MD 591 east / west while the Porters Bridge Road references MD 591 north / south. The route connects with U.S. 1 (Conowingo Road) at both ends and parallels the US route to the south at Richardsmere.
