U.S. 190 splits into a one way street couplet of Morris Avenue (east) and Thomas Street (west) through downtown Hammond. U.S. 51 Business begins and leads south from Morris Avenue along Oak Street to Railroad Avenue and Interstate 12 (Exit 40). The route follows old US 51 from Hammond to Ponchatoula for 8.6 miles. 11/20/08
U.S. 190 turns south from Covington and meets Interstate 10 at a directional cloverleaf interchange. The US highway upgrades to a full freeway between I-10 and Causeway Boulevard at Mandeville and sees a diamond interchange with Fairway Drive west and Judge Tanner Boulevard east. 07/22/01
U.S. 190 leaves the freeway and resumes an eastward course along a commercialized route southeast through Mandeville. LA 22 begins at the diamond interchange and leads west to Madisonville and Ponchatoula.
Causeway Boulevard commences and leads south as a surface route to the merges with West and East Causeway Approach Road. The toll plaza for the Causeway resides south from there and precedes the 23.87 mile bridge to New Orleans. 07/22/01

U.S. 190 (Gause Boulevard) approaches the diamond interchange with Interstate 10 in the city of Slidell. U.S. 190 travels a busy four lane divided highway from U.S. 11 (Front Street) to Interstate 10 and LA 1090 (Military Road). 06/10/06
U.S. 190 (Gause Boulevard) passes underneath Interstate 10 between the east and westbound on-ramps. Interstate 10 proceeds north of Gause Boulevard to the interchange with Interstate 12 west and Interstate 59 north. Interstate 59 heads north to Hattiesburg as Interstate 10 resumes an eastern course to Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. 06/10/06
Eastbound at the Interstate 10 eastbound ramp to Interstates 12 & 59. U.S. 190 (Gause Boulevard) continues ahead through a busy shopping area on the 1.75 mile drive to LA 1090 (Military Road). At Military Road, U.S. 190 turns south to its merge with U.S. 190 Business (Shortcut Highway). 06/10/06
U.S. 190 east concludes at the settlement of White Kitchen and U.S. 90. Signs for the end point were missing from Hurricane Katrina to the end of 2007. 06/10/06
An overhead guide sign directed traffic from U.S. 190 to Gulfport and New Orleans via U.S. 90 at the eastern terminus. This sign was not replaced and a single U.S. 90 shield and arrow assembly lies opposite the intersection as of 2011. U.S. 90 otherwise is a scenic drive west to Chef Menteur and New Orleans and east to Pearlington. 11/06/99
