Pasco County Road 578A is a rural major collector measuring 5.28 miles in length from CR 581 (Bellamy Brothers Boulevard) at Darby to CR 577 (Curley Road) north of San Antonio. Following Darby Road, CR 578A runs across agricultural areas and ranch land north of Thomas Prairie and into the San Antonio city limits at Antonio Way.

Construction of Interstate 75 in the 1960s included a realignment of Darby Road. The rural highway previously navigated along a stair stepped course a half mile north to cross Bee Tree Branch and then west 0.75 miles and north again a half mile. Old Darby Road follows a portion of the former route west of I-75.
