Exit 8A meanwhile forms the southbound beginning of the Bruckner Expressway frontage street system with connections to the west beginning of Westchester Avenue. 08/29/05
I-95 sinks below grade along the Bruckner Expressway. Attached to the Wilkinson Avenue over crossing was a button copy overhead outlining the ramp partitions for I-695 (Throgs Neck Expressway) south and E Tremont Avenue. Prior to 1986, I-695 was designated as I-295 Spur. 08/29/05

Road construction slowed the pace of traffic to a crawl on the one half mile approach to the Interstates 95 and 695 southbound split in this scene. Newer reflective signs reflected Interstate 695 correctly. The Throgs Neck Expressway includes an off-ramp to Randall Avenue for the Schuylerville community ahead of its merge with Interstate 295. 08/29/05
A new sign bridge and overheads were installed along Interstate 95, one half mile north of Exit 7A, by 2011. Interstate 695 follows the northern leg of the Throgs Neck Expressway; Interstate 295 continues the freeway southeast to the Throgs Neck suspension Bridge. Together these routes replaced Interstate 78, which entailed both the Throgs Neck and Clearview Expressways until 1971. 04/21/11
Four lanes of Interstate 95 (Bruckner Expressway) near the Exit 7B off-ramp to Tremont Avenue. Exit 7B carries motorists from I-95 south onto adjacent Bruckner Boulevard three blocks east of Tremont Avenue. Tremont Avenue links the Schuylerville and Throgs Neck communities of the Bronx. 04/21/11

An original button copy sign remained in use at the Interstate 95 and 695 split (Exit 7A). It was replaced by 2009. Parallel Bruckner Boulevard appeared beyond the guide sign. 08/29/05
Interstate 695 splits from the Bruckner Expressway and begins at Exit 7A. Interstate 295 continues south from the 2.0 mile I-695 across the Throgs Neck Bridge to interchanges with the Cross Island Parkway, Interstate 495 (Long Island Expressway), and Grand Central Parkway, all of which provide routes to Long Island, before ending at Hillside Avenue. 04/21/11
Turning westward, Interstate 95 (Bruckner Expressway) continues below grade by the Schuylerville community on the approach to the Bruckner Interchange (Exits 6B/A) with Interstate 278 west and Interstate 678 (Hutchinson River Expressway) south. 04/21/11
The three lanes of Interstate 95 south split into two lane ramps for the Cross Bronx Expressway west to the George Washington Bridge and the westbound beginning of Interstate 278 (Exit 6B). I-278 continues the Bruckner Expressway west to Soundview, Hunts Point and the Triboro (RFK) Bridge. 04/21/11
Newer guide signs posted at Exit 6B reflect the Triborough Bridge renaming in 2008 to the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge and Manhattan. An on-ramp joins Interstate 95 south from the adjacent Cross Bronx Expressway frontage street ahead of the Beach Avenue overpass and ramp departure of Exit 4B. Exit 4B consists of a slip ramp onto the adjacent service road ahead of its intersection with Rosedale Avenue. Travelers destined for the Bronx River Parkway must take the Cross-Bronx Expressway frontage street to a northbound on-ramp by West Farms. The Parkway comprises a north-south limited-access highway between Interstate 278 at Soundview and White Plains via Sprain Brook Parkway.
These signs were replaced by 2011. 08/09/04

Now west of Interstate 895, Interstate 95 (Cross-Bronx Expressway) passes under Prospect Avenue and an East Tremont neighborhood park just east of the Third Avenue (Exit 3) off-ramp. Third Avenue serves Crotona Park and the East Tremont, Fordham, and Morrisania neighborhoods of the Bronx. 08/09/04
Tucked away behind a fence at the Crotona Avenue overpass was a pair of U.S. 1 shields along Interstate 95 south. The assembly referred to the US highway routing along Webster Avenue four blocks to the west of Third Avenue. Since there is no direct connection onto U.S. 1 north, motorists are advised to utilize the Exit 3 slip ramp onto East 175th Street, and 175th Street west to its intersection with Webster Avenue. U.S. 1 southbound merges onto Interstate 95 from Webster Avenue ahead to cross the George Washington Bridge into Fort Lee, New Jersey. 08/09/04
The Cross-Bronx Expressway bisects Crotona and Tremont Parks between Arthur and 3rd Avenues in the Bronx. Exit 3 leaves the freeway at the Arthur Avenue overpass for East 175th Street ahead of its intersection with Third Avenue. Both Third Avenue and U.S. 1 (Webster Avenue) travel north one mile from Interstate 95 to Fordham Avenue. 08/09/04

All traffic bound for Interstate 87 or Amsterdam Avenue on Manhattan Island depart I-95/U.S. 1 south in unison. Exit 1 (formerly Exit 1A) is the last New York exit in 1.25 miles at West 181st Street to NY 9A (Henry Hudson Parkway). 07/27/07
Sign replacements made by 2011 at Interstate 87 now reference the forthcoming split between the upper and local decks of the George Washington Bridge in place of NY 9A (Henry Hudson Parkway). Queens and Albany are the control points for I-87 in place of Triboro Bridge and Upstate. 04/21/11
The single lane ramp to Interstate 87 expands to two lanes with a left side ramp to Exit 1B for the Washington Bridge west to Amsterdam Avenue at Fort George on Manhattan Island. Exits 1D/C curve away to the right for the Major Deegan Expressway, which parallels the Harlem River below. 07/27/07
Descending toward the ramp split for Interstate 87 south to Yankee Stadium and Queens and north to University Heights and Westchester County. Exit numbers for I-87 were originally posted as Exits 3N/S. 07/27/07
The arch of the 1888-built Washington Bridge comes into view above the ramp partition to Interstate 87 from I-95/U.S. 1 south. 07/27/07
The Cross Bronx Expressway mainline passes under University Avenue ahead of the Alexander Hamilton Bridge across the Harlem River. Obscured from view is the first modern sign for Exit 1A, NY 9A (Henry Hudson Parkway) and West 181st Street). The freeway continues with just six lanes, leading to regular traffic congestion to split for the George Washington Bridge decks. 04/21/11
I-95/U.S. 1 partition into separate roadways just west of the Alexander Hamilton Bridge for the Upper and Lower Levels of the George Washington Bridge. Motorists bound for Exit 1 and Henry Hudson Parkway must use the lower level to access NY 9A. 04/21/11
