The first of many U.S. 40 eastbound reassurance shields posted along the Silver Creek Junction to Atlantic City, New Jersey route. U.S. 40 and its hidden companion (U.S. 189) stem southward from Interstate 80 (Exit 146) 18 miles to Heber City. From there U.S. 40 east turns toward Duchesne and Vernal. U.S. 189 continues southward through Provo Canyon to U.S. 89 at Provo. 09/08/05
Exit 2 departs U.S. 40 east & 189 south quickly for Silver Creek Drive and Silver Summit Parkway. Silver Summit represents a residential area to the northeast of Park City. 09/08/05

Next in line for southbound travelers along U.S. 40 & 189 is the junction with SR 248 (Kearns Boulevard). SR 248, omitted from Exit 4 guide signs, travels 24 miles east from SR 224 in Park City to SR 32 in Kamas. 09/08/05
Southbound at the off-ramp (Exit 4) to SR 248. A diamond interchange provides the second access point into the Park City resort areas to the west. SR 248 reaches the Summit County city of Kamas 11.3 miles to the east. 09/08/05
