Interstate 35 North U.S. 190 East
Combining with U.S. 190 east from IH 14, IH 35 north lowers to cross Nolan Creek ahead of Exit 294A with Central Avenue (former SS 253) west in Belton. 08/18/05
SS 253 was established in 1952 with the construction of “new” US 81 (IH 35) away from Main Street in Belton. Spur 253 connected the freeway road with Main Street (SH 317), 0.616 miles to the west in Downtown Belton. SS 253 was removed from the state highway system in 2007, with maintenance of Central Avenue turned over to the city of Belton. 08/18/05
Exit 294B serves FM 93 (UR 93) along 6th Avenue in Belton. FM (UR) 93 begins at FM 439 northwest of Belton and extends east 16.14 miles to U.S. 190 Business at Heidenheimer. 08/18/05
Advance signage for FM (UR) 817 and Midway Drive. FM 817 follows old U.S. 81 along Waco Road 3.14 miles northeast to IH 35 at Exit 297. 08/18/05
Continuing northeast toward Downtown Temple, U.S. 190 splits with IH 35 north at the ensuing exit. Expansion of IH 35 to six lanes consolidated separate frontage road ramps at Exits 298 and 299. 08/18/05
The three level interchange (Exit 299) with the departing U.S. 190 ties into the west end of SL 363 (H.K. Dodgen Loop), an expressway encircling the north side of Temple. 08/18/05
U.S. 190 runs across the south side of Temple along a freeway to Temple College. East from the city, U.S. 190 continues to Heidenheimer, the Milam County seat of Cameron and Bryan-College Station. 08/18/05

IH 35 through Temple was completed by 1961. Continuing past U.S. 190 and SL 363, the succeeding exit is for 57th and 49th Streets and Avenue H. 08/18/05
Exit 300 constitutes a slip ramp onto General Bruce Drive, the IH 35 frontage road system through west Temple. 08/18/05
SH 53 travels east from Exit 301 through Downtown Temple to Rosebud and west along Airport Road to SL 363 at SH 36. SH 36 extends Airport Road northwest to Draughon-Miller Central Texas Regional Airport (TPL) west en route to Gatesville. FM (UR) 2305 travels west to Woodland on Belton Lake. 08/18/05
Exit 302 connects IH 35 with Nugent Avenue and suburban areas of north Temple. 08/18/05
IH 35 navigates through a sweeping S-curve east across the BNSF Railroad to SS 290 (North 3rd Street) in Temple. 08/18/05
FM (UR) 1143 overlays a 0.48 mile segment of Industrial Boulevard between IH 35 and Spur 290. Spur 290 follows 3rd and 1st Streets south 4.38 miles to Downtown Temple and U.S. 190 along former U.S. 81. 08/18/05
The Frank W. Mayborn Civic & Convention Center and the Cultural Activities Center lie just east of the exchange joining IH 35 with Spur 290 (3rd Street) and Industrial Boulevard at Exit 303A. 08/18/05
I-35 Project 2B through Temple consolidated separate ramps for SS 290 and Bellaire North into a single exit ahead of the BNSF Railroad underpass. Six to eight lane expansion of IH 35, 7.56 mile miles north from Midway Drive to North Loop 363 cost $243.1 million and was underway from 2013 to Summer 2019.1 08/18/05
Continuing north from Exit 304 for SL 363 (H.K. Dodgen Loop), IH 35 next meets Berger Road. 08/18/05
New frontage roads were built north from SL 363 to Berger Road during early 2012 to Fall 2018 widening of IH 35 from four to six lanes. The 6.4 mile expansion project north to Windmill Lane cost $123.6 million.2 08/18/05
The ensuing exit along IH 35 northbound from Berger Road serves FM 1237 west from Troy. 08/18/05
FM 1237 links IH 35 at Exit 306 with SH 317 along a 6.19 mile long course. 08/18/05
Advancing north into the city of Troy, IH 35 meets FM 935 (Main Street) at Exit 308. FM 935 comprises a rural highway leading 21.78 miles east from Troy to Belfalls, Durango and SH 7 near Triangle. 08/18/05
Heading north from Temple and Troy, the Hill Country along IH 35 transitions to the plains of northern Texas. Widening of IH 35 here through Fall 2018 realigned the freeway eastward across Big Elm Creek with a new off-ramp (Exit 311) built for Big Elm Road 08/18/05
IH 35 angles across the western corner of Falls County ahead of Old Blevins Road (CR 459). Six lane expansion of IH 35 from Big Elm Road north to Woodlawn Road realigned Exit 314 southward to depart from Deer Creek at the Bell County line. 08/18/05
