Traveling 762 miles (the Texas Highway Designation Files lists 637.59 miles) across the Lone Star State, U.S. 67 originates at the Mexican border crossing in Presidio and leaves the state at Texarkana. U.S. 67 traverses remote areas of West Texas northeast to Marfa, along an overlap with U.S. 90 east to Alpine, and northeast again to IH 10 near Fort Stockton. U.S. 67 follows the freeway east to Fort Stockton, where the two routes combine with U.S. 385 for a 12 mile long concurrency east.
U.S. 67/385 branch north from Interstate 10 to Upton County. U.S. 385 turns northward there to Odessa while U.S. 67 remains eastward to the rural cities of Rankin, Big Lake and Mertzon. The route gradually trends northward, meeting U.S. 87 and briefly overlapping with U.S. 277 through San Angelo, before continuing to Ballinger, Brownwood, Comanche and Stephenville.
Advancing east, U.S. 67 leads to the Dallas-Fort Worth area via Cleburne and Alvarado, entering the south suburbs at Midlothian. The highway upgrades to a freeway northward through Cedar Hill, Duncanville and south Dallas where IH 35 subsumes U.S. 67 north toward Downtown. U.S. 67 is unmarked eastward along IH 30 from Dallas, Rockwall and the eastern suburbs, and Greenville.
U.S. 67 Business emerges from IH 30 and U.S. 67 through Sulphur Springs, with U.S. 67 finally separating from the freeway west of Mount Vernon. U.S. 67 follows the IH 30 corridor the rest of the way in Texas, passing through Mount Pleasant, Omaha and Naples en route to Texarkana. U.S. 67 leaves Texas from Downtown Texarkana alongside U.S. 82.
