Site Navigation Arizona California Colorado Idaho Montana Nevada New Mexico Utah Wyoming     Business Loop I-80 - Wendover Business Loop I-80 travels 2.7 miles through West Wendover, Nevada, and Wendover, Utah, via Old U.S. 40. This route provides access to services and casinos along the way. The Nevada stretch shares pavement with Alternate U.S. 93 for the first one-half mile. Thereafter, the business loop used to share pavement with Nevada 224 between Alternate U.S. 93 and the Nevada-Utah state line, until the state transferred responsibility of the business loop from the Nevada Department of Transportation to the city of West Wendover. At the state line, the Utah Department of Transportation takes over responsibility and has assigned the route as Utah 58 officially. While the Nevada side of the loop is well signed, it is difficult to find a green business route sign on the Utah side of the loop. Business Loop I-80 east and Alternate U.S. 93/Florence Way south Exit 410 serves West Wendover from Interstate 80 just north of the commercial strip (Wendover Boulevard). Drivers departing Interstate 80 westbound turn southward onto Business Loop I-80 east & U.S. 93A southbound at a diamond interchange. Ranch roads tie into the interchange from the north. Alternate U.S. 93 turns southward from Business Loop I-80 just east of the turn onto Wendover Boulevard. The federal highway merges with U.S. 93 59 miles to the south at Lages Station. The Wendover Nugget Hotel and Casino and Montego Bay Casino lie across from one another at the Utah state line. The pedestrian over crossing links the two businesses and represents where the boundary crosses Wendover Boulevard. The gambling parlors of both casinos are found on the Nevada state of the state line. The hotel portions of the facilities exist in Utah. Photos taken 09/08/05. Business Loop I-80 and Utah 58/Wendover Boulevard east Business Loop I-80 gains Utah 58 after it crosses into Utah along Wendover Boulevard. A left turn on Aria Boulevard will provide a connection to Interstate 80. After Aria Boulevard, the tandem routes leave Wendover and approach the Exit 2 interchange with Interstate 80. There is no westbound on-ramp to Interstate 80 there, so motorists bound for Elko and points west should take old U.S. 40 (Frontage Road) east to Exit 4. Photo taken 09/08/05. Drivers continuing east on Business Loop I-80 and Utah 58 default onto Interstate 80 eastbound at Exit 2. Business Loop I-80 and Utah 58/Wendover Boulevard (Old U.S. 40) west Business Loop I-80 & Utah 58 westbound leave Interstate 80 at Exit 2 for Wendover, Utah. Rather than sign the loop with reassurance markers, UDOT instead places an Interstate 80 westbound trailblazer after the merge with Old U.S. 40 (Frontage Road). Photo taken 09/08/05. Wendover Boulevard carries the business loop into the Wendover business district. A number of hotel and casinos line along the state line. The gambling aspect of the businesses lie across the Nevada state line where gambling is allowed. Prior to the Utah-Nevada state line, Aria Boulevard turns north to connect Wendover with Interstate 80 Exit 1. Photo taken 09/08/05. The Nevada state line crosses Wendover Boulevard at the pedestrian over crossing between the Wendover Nugget Hotel and Casino and Montego Bay Casino. Note the painted lines demarking the state border on the roadway itself. At the state line, Utah 58 comes to an end. Alternate U.S. 93 provides the main connection between Ely, Nevada and the Interstate 80 corridor for points east. The alternate route doubles back to U.S. 93 via Interstate 80 west.
