State Highway 83 starts in Colorado Springs, then parallels Interstate 25 to the east. Entering the Denver metropolitan area from the southeast, SH 83 passes by Castle Rock, then travels through Parker before entering Centennial and Aurora. Through southwestern Aurora, SH 83 changes from a rural two lane highway into a major commuter route. SH 83 parallels Cherry Creek as it enters Denver, and concludes at SH 2 (Colorado Boulevard) near Glendale.

SH 83 (Parker Road) turns southeast from the Kennedy neighborhood in Denver to meet Interstate 225 at Peoria Street. 11/10/03
SH 83 upgrades into an expressway through the exchange with I-225. A high flyover carries traffic from Parker Road north to I-225 south. 11/10/03
A folded diamond interchange joins SH 83 (Parker Road) with Dam Road and Vaughn Way just east of I-225. 11/10/03
The succeeding ramp from SH 83 southbound leads to Hampden Avenue east through south Aurora. 11/10/03
Dam Road stems southwest from SH 83 and Vaughn Way to Cherry Creek Dam, which is located within Cherry Creek State Park. This section of SH 83 was reconstructed in the early 2000s. 11/10/03
The mainline for SH 83 remains with four through lanes beyond the exit for Hampden Avenue. Hampden Avenue is disconnected from the other section of Hampden Avenue west of Havana Street by Cherry Creek State Park and John F. Kennedy Park. 11/10/03
SH 83 turns south along the east boundary of Cherry Creek Lake State Park to Centennial. Hampden Avenue forms a suburban arterial east from Parker Road to Conservatory Parkway in Aurora. 11/10/03
Cherry Creek State Park is bordered on the north by I-225, east by SH 83 (Parker Road) and southwest by Jordan Road and Belleview Avenue. Surrounding Cherry Creek Lake reservoir, the park is very popular for hiking, bicycling and other outdoor activities. One of the main entrances to the park is located at Lehigh Avenue from Parker Road. 11/10/03
Advancing to SH 88 (Arapahoe Road) west on SH 83 (Parker Road) south at Centennial. SH 88 leads to Interstate 25 via Arapahoe Road, then angles northwest to Greenwood Village, Englewood, Littleton and Denver via Belleview Avenue. 11/10/03
A parclo interchange joins SH 83 and SH 88 at the Foxfield and Centennial limits. Arapahoe Road east continues as an locally maintained arterial. 11/10/03
SH 83 (Parker Road) and Colorado E-470 come together at a commercialized exchange within Parker in northern Douglas County. A toll road, E-470 leads west and south to I-25 and C-470, and north to I-70 at Gun Club Road. 11/10/03
E-470 north provides a high speed route to Denver International Airport (DEN) from the Douglas County suburbs. The beltway uses all electronic tolling (AET). 11/10/03
West from Parker Road, E-470 constitutes a growing commuter route to Interstate 25 Centennial and Lone Tree. C-470 extends the beltway west to Littleton and Golden. 11/10/03
