Nevada 266

Nevada 266 east
This older-style "Welcome to Nevada" sign is posted on eastbound Nevada 266 after California 266 ends. At this point, the state highway leaves Mono County and enters Esmeralda County, one of the least populated counties in Nevada. From here, Nevada 266 travels almost due east through Palmetto and Lida to meet U.S. 95 at Lida Junction. A secondary route (Nevada 774) travels south from Nevada 266 to Gold Point. Photo taken 01/19/02.
Some distance east (after passing through Lida and meeting Nevada 774), eastbound Nevada 266 approaches the intersection with U.S. 95 at Lida Junction. Photo taken 11/11/08.
An END Nevada 266 shield is posted shortly before the U.S. 95 intersection in Lida Junction. This is common practice for signing the end of rural state highways in Nevada. Photo taken 11/11/08.
Use U.S. 95 north to Goldfield (seat of Esmeralda County) and southeast to Beatty and Las Vegas. Photo taken 11/11/08.
A U.S. 95 trailblazer shield is posted prior to the stop sign at Lida Junction. Photo taken 11/11/08.

Leaving the intersection with U.S. 95 at Lida Junction, this mileage sign along Nevada 266 west provides the distance to Lida (19 miles) and Dyer (61 miles via California 266 northwest and Nevada 264 north). Omitted are the distances to the Nevada-California State Line and the distance to Oasis (Junction California 168). Photo taken 11/11/08.
A Nevada 266 west reassurance shield is posted shortly thereafter. Photo taken 11/11/08.
At the time this photo was taken, the next gas station along Nevada 266 west is in Fish Lake Valley, some 58 miles west of here. Photo taken 11/11/08.
A second mileage sign along Nevada 266 west provides the distance to Fish Lake Valley (60 miles) and Bishop (85 miles). Photo taken 11/11/08.
