Following only three miles of Soda Bay Road, SR 281 travels northeast from SR 29 in south central Lake County with Point Lakeview Road at Clear Lake Riviera before turning northwest to parallel Clear Lake. SR 281 ends on the approach to Konocti Bay Road, while Soda Bay Road continues on a north and west arc to the communities of Riviera Estates and Soda Bay before passing through Clear Lake State Park. Soda Bay Road returns to SR 29 on the south side of Lakeport opposite of SR 175.
